If you don't like one walkthrough, use another. Try www.gamefaqs.com they should have a couple at least.
Anyway, when you exit the building after meeting the 'cannon fodder' you will see the Combine building in front of you, with an impassable wall between you and it.
Turn right and...
No. The retail box clearly states that an internet connection is required. There are no work-arounds. Repeat, you must have an internet connection on the same computer (or hard disk) you install to.
That beam weapon is similar to the Strider's cannon. In the leaked version, that weapon is used (in a scripted sequence) to destroy a shack with a resistance fighter in it, poor guy.
I just hope that the Mod Makers Guide is useful. It should encompass model making, programming, mapping, scripting, etc. I hope that it is a large volume, something that would explain and not just list.
Not that big of a surprise really. We've known there have been MOD teams meeting up with Valve in Seattle for a while now. It doesn't take that much of a stretch to assume that one of those MOD teams are working on HL2:DM (especially since Valve hasn't done it themselves).
Anyone else notice how the Overwatch Scanners do the same thing? They emit a desperate distress signal before it tries to crash and explode into you. Like little mechanical suicide bombers.
This is a known bug that Valve has recognized. They say it is a driver problem on nVidia's end and that new drivers from them should fix it. We just don't know when those are supposed to be released.

Go into the building with the fire out front, you put it out already right? There is an electric box upstairs that you use to turn the electricity off.
He's also in Nova Prospekt. It is either the first or second TV set that you can change channels with, that the you can see the G-Man walk across the screen right before a bunch of Combine has a showdown with a Bull Antlion (or Big Bruiser). I think it's the second channel.
Manhacks are very annoying early, but once you have the gravgun their difficulty/annoyance drops big time. I'd say it becomes a fun addition since you can shoot it at enemies. And I love how they explode when you smash em against a wall.
What I really don't like are the poison headcrabs, way...
