is it possible to install hl2 on more than one computer?

Indeed, just log into your Steam account and re-download the game .. however only 1 person can be logged onto the Steam account at a time.

well, i didnt really download it. im 16 and i bought the game in the game of the year editoin but my parents wont let me install it untill im 17. it comes with hl2, hl2dm, CS:S, and half-life source. and i was wondering if i could load it off the discs to both computers.

are you an idiot or something?... every time i sign up for something on the net ( enless its important ) or install something, i always say im at least 18 then i give them faulty information and install. just say your 17, whats the big deal?

lol you be the idiot. he said his PARENTS wont let him play until hes 17. haha i can imagine someone telling thier parents that your really 18 not 16 haha. also the m-level age is 17 in us. sucks though man whens your bday?

october 13 so its not that long of a w8. the only reason i have the game now is because it was the last of the game of the year editoin the store had and they had the regular editoin for the same price. i did download the demo from steam tho it took me 3 hours so im not gonna download the full version anytime soon.

It's cool man, as i said, you'll have to install Steam to install the games, which comes with em anyway as far as i know. From then on, if you wanna play any of your games on another computer, just download steam from steampowered.com .. log into your account and then re-install the files to that computer (No Discs needed 2nd time around)

my bad... guess I am the idiot... missed the "parents" part... but thats lame.

if you already have the demo, it wont take nearly as long to download anthing else... I've found that after downloading anything "source" you have it and anything new is just maps, skins, models, ect... and they dont take nearly as long to load. But i havent installed via disk in so long i dont remember if its faster or not.

Not to question parental authority, and being a smartass will never win you points with your parents... but doesn't that seem a little dumb to you? It's not like on midnight of the 13th of October a switch in your brain will be activated that makes you fully one year more qualified to play a violent game. Come to that, it's the case that the game is rated 15 in the UK, 16 in Europe and 17 in the USA. Frankly, it all seems entirely random to me :)

In reality, if you're one of the absolute minority of nutcases who flip out and kills people when exposed to violence, it doesn't matter if you're 17 months, 17 years or 70 centuries old, the chances are you are going to do it :P Anyways, stupid as it all seems, it's certainly not worth angering the parents over :)

i have steam on one comp but not the other and it took me 3.5 hours to download the demo, so yeah im just gonna use the discs.

kupoartist has a point... no matter what the age, you can still swing a crowbar in to an unsuspecting head ( i should know,my brother did it to me when he was 3 ). Its dumb too cuz they rarly ask you for Id or anything, well at least at walmart they dont, If i try to get my games else where they ask. I think its dumb and the age limt should either be lowered or they need to come up with less broad rateings like ( and better ecuses for kids killing people and stealing cars like... they have no common sence then" then " GTA made them do it.. bull shit) E=eveyone, T=teen, M=mature ( mature, how old is mature? 70? ) they need to break it down a little better, any one ever been to newgrounds.com? they have a pretty decent rateing system for their games and videos. As for your parents, ask them if you can play it as an early birthday present :E

nah right now im just playing with the demo. it only comes with point insertion and ravenholm. enable cheats and watch dead npcs fly through tthe air. i can w8. my parents dont care about the demo.

btw there are some swings on the first level in a playground, has ne1 ever spawned the gravity gun 4 themselves and got the swings spnning so fast that when u jump into them u get shot several hundred feet into the air?

wow, never knew you could do that... I'll have to give it a shot and i also add:

wtf?!

the demo is the same damn thing as the game! just shorter! I dont understand why they will let you play the demo of the game but not let you play the whole thing... thats like my parents letting me watch a sample clip from a porn-o movie but not letting me watch the whole movie! thats gotta be one of the dumbest things I've heard.

ya i know its kind of retarded , also there are commands for the console that let u alter the specs of teh gravity gun. just start typing physcannon and it will bring up, well down a list of commands.

Soo just to make sure you understand how it works, you can have the same HL2 game on two different computers, but you can only play on one at a time, since you need to be logged into steam to play it. As soon as you register the cd-key with the account, it's permanently tied to it. You can get it switched to another account I think but that's a pain in the ass process.

Also, you should...iunno, sit down with your parents and talk about how silly they're being over this game and your age...or not. I would. meh.

im not gonna bother with trying to convince my parents, so dont try to convince me, they'll just get pissed and keep it past my birthday.THIS IS WHAT THEY SAID TO ME WHEN I BOUGHT THE GAME. (sry if i seem angry i just want to play the full version sooner)

just so ya know to do the swingset trick grab the seat with the grav gun point it up and hold down the left mouse button WHILE STILL POINTING UP and it will start to hit the seat repeatedly. when u think it is fast enuf jump into it.

another idea here get the merry-go-round going really fast then throw things onto it.

lol i dont really see why they let you buy the game when you couldnt play it. do they like want to make you suffer and look at the box waiting to play the whole time?

He explained it was the last one in the store so they just decided to buy it.

Well, hope you have fun with it when you do play it, and if you haven't played HL1 yet, well you need to play that too :D

So, for example, I could let my friend install the game on his comp. and he could play it, even though the CD keys would still be the same?

Yes, but you'd have to tell him your steam login info...or login for him, set it to remember the password, and every time he launches steam it'll auto-login.
But, I don't think you can both be logged in on the same account at the same time...You MIGHT be able to, but I know for sure that you can't both play an online game like CSS at the same time.

Yea, I think I remember my friend was logged in at the same time as me, but as soon as he launched DoD it kicked me off of the game of DoD I was playing. But I was still logged in on steam.

Wow... your parents must be very strict... I'm 13, and by saying that I hope I wont get ownd from teh boards, cause I dont remember the age requirements... my grandma got it for me, and I can play GRAND THEFT AUTO!!! She got me the double pack with teh 3 and teh vice city. its like... teh awesomeness. I love using the tank cheat.. and going through teh city destroying every freakin thing in sight... god yes.. but dont tell the government... or target...

Perhaps it's less of a "violent games warp minds" thing, and more of a "this is your birthday present, so you're supposed to have it on your birthday" thing :)

lol so he bought his present a few months beforehand. also have none of you heard of restocking i mean there will be other copys.

my little brother is 10 and my parents let him play counter strike... but that was a little random.

i bought the game with my money and i asked the manager and he said they wouldnt restock the game of the year edition anymore. also the game of the year edition comes with half-life: source so does that count?

I don't think it's an issue letting a kid play a graphic video game. The issue is the other part of being a parent... You know, interacting and talking to and explaining things.

Granted graphics weren't nearly as good when I was a kid as they are now. But any game console I had I always had the fighting/gore/action games. Maniac Mansion still rocks. :D And I'm pretty normal, I think, cept for this nasty twitch I have. Oh and an uncontrollable temper. :P

what do you mean: "does that count?" as in half life 1? yes it does, and you should play it first cuz its a hella good game. as for not restocking half life 2? wtf? i assume it was the last one left becuase no one wanted to buy there shipment?! i think not, thats been like, what? one of the best FPS since 01... next to halo 2, wich i cant remember when it came out... evey place I've been to that sells video games has had it in stock and keeps it in stock, the only place Hl2 might not be to buy is block buster becuase 1: they dont sell pc games and 2: they only sell used console game and you'd have to be a f*cking retard ( enless you xbox is busted ) to give that game away for a few measly blockbuster credits.

arrgh u are all idiots they had the regular version there too they regularly restock that, but it was teh same price as the game of the year edition and came with CS:S and half-life: source which the regular version didn't. if i had downloaded all of what was contained in the game of the year editoin from steam it would have cost me over 70 bux, so i convinced my parents to let me buy the good version instead, because it was a great deal. they let me play violent video games, i think it was just because u have to be 17 in order to legally buy the game here in the US. (I think it might be some sort of demented lesson in patience or something like that):P

Perhaps you or the shop owner is getting mixed up with the Collectors Edition? There have been three retail editions. Only one is still being manufactured.

B00006I02Z.01._AA280_SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg

1) Vivendi / Sierra: Regular (large picture of Freeman / G-Man / Alyx on front).
Contains: HL2, CS Source
Further Entitles you to: HL2 Lost Coast, HL2 Deathmatch
- This Edition is now DELETED. Any shop that tells you they will restock is lying.

2) Vivendi / Sierra: Collector's Edition (Europe: Tin with Lambda logo / America Box displaying all three Regular covers)
Contains: HL2, CS Source, HL Source, Ridiculously oversized T-Shirt, Advert booklet for Strat Guide / Art Book
Further Entitles you to: HL2 Lost Coast, HL2 Deathmatch
- This Edition has long since been DELETED. Now extremely rare, but not worth getting over the identical (in software terms) GOTY edition.

3) EA: Game of the Year Edition (Alyx and Gordon action pose, orange cover. Says "Voted Game of the Year by yadda yadda publications")
Contains: HL2, HL2 Deathmatch, HL2 Lost Coast, HL Source, CS Source.
- This is the edition still manufactured, because Vivendi no longer have the right to manufacture Valve products. Shop staff who tell you they can't get it in again are either anticipating some kind of bundle we haven't yet heard of (With HL2: Episode One) or don't have a clue what they are on about.

Bottom line is, Game of the Year is the ONLY edition that is still being produced. Though the name may suggest it is a limited edition, that is not the case.

lol no you dont, lots of things that require age of 17 allow you.

OK OK but it was their store policy, they carded me. and they had a whole pile of the original version sitting right next to mine, maybe the game wasn't selling very well so they werent going to reorder it, but they were the same price and so i bought the game of the year edition.
