  • Hello. You don't know me, and quite frankly I don't know you, but I recall you mentioning in a thread that you had a doctorate in radio astronomy, so I thought you'd maybe be a good one to ask thi.

(or maybe i'm just tripping about the doctorate part, but I know you have some sort of paper from a school)

If I wanted to learn more about Spectroscopy and Photonics, where would be a good place to start?

Then, try to pick up a copy of "Introduction to Modern Optics" by Grant R Fowles, which is the introductory optics text I had at college. It's about a tenner on Amazon. What specifically do you need this knowledge for, or is it just curiosity?

Darn! I don't have any of my high school texts left floating around. I'll definitely check out that "intro to modern optics" though. Do you have any intro physics books you'd recommend too?

Mostly interested because I work in a "Spectral Lab" (idk if that's the proper term, but that's what the doorway says), so after spending a lot of time around the things, and even getting to use them on on occasion, I'm really wanting to learn more about them.
