All we have for estimating the time frames for these projects is educated (but still mostly blind) conjecture. With so little information about the inner workings of Valve that actually gets confirmed, we're not any more qualified to guess than you are.
Awesome! I got Limbo and Dead Space 2, both of which I had been meaning to try out for a while. I'm a fan of this secret benefactor of mine.
My gratitude, whoever you are.
Nothing really sticks out to me in particular, but I have found that Episode One as a whole is the game I replay the least, by far. Once I got the "One Free Bullet" achievement, I saw no more incentive to boot that one up.
Essentially, something that is canon is something that happened, without a doubt, in the official timeline of a fictional universe. On the other hand, something that is non-canon is something that did not happen in the one true timeline of a fictional universe.
For example, I can say something...
Yeah, I'm with you. The sound design in the Half-Life 2 games is absolutely brilliant. It's all so subtle, atmospheric, and, above all, mysterious. Every sound you hear is wonderfully distinct and helps define the "feel" of the gameplay and setting. Not to mention just about every sound effect...
Thing is: Gordon is the only major character in the Half-Life 2 series whose face is not based on a real person. Instead, Gordon's face is more or less a hybrid of several different real-life faces. So, simply put, there is no absolute reference face or singular source for what Gordon's face is...
Okay, then. Here are my current records (as of December 27th, 2013):

Still working on beating that final stage, but trust me when I say I know exactly what you mean...
The best evidence I see to support this theory is the fact that their JIRA database leaked twice, and the second time made it very clear that the HL3 team had increased dramatically in size.... almost as if the leaks were meant to show us that.
Still, though, I'm sufficiently jaded about HL3...
Following the onset of the Steam Hardware beta, Valve have begun shipping the Steamworks API that will allow game developers to incorporate specific support for the Steam Controller in their games. In other words, you might soon see official Steam Controller support added to your favorite Steam...
Valve recently announced two forthcoming maps for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in a new blog post over on the game’s website. The first is an updated remake of the classic "Cobble" (de_cbble) map, while the second is an all-new map entitled "Overpass". In the announcement blog post, the team...
Today at around 2:00pm PST (10:00pm GMT), Valve will be notifying the 300 selected beta testers for Steam Machines, Steam Controllers, and SteamOS. The beta participants are very unfortunately limited to the United States because of international regulatory hurdles. Though Valve have made it...
The annual Steam Autumn Sale has officially begun! It is set to run from November 27th until December 3rd, and features daily deals and time-sensitive flash sales.
Daily deals function as large price reductions on 9 select game titles for 24 hours at a time, changing every day at 6:00pm GMT...
To make filling out the survey a little easier, I converted the PDF into a Google Docs form. That way, it's notably easier to fill out, all the data gets auto-sorted into a nice little spreadsheet for easy interpretation, and the data remains truly anonymous.
(Sorry, Nick, if this isn't what...
Hmm... This thread has made me wonder which ValveTime staff members live closest to Valve's headquarters. I just checked, and I live 1,506 miles (by car) away from Valve's building in Bellevue. Obviously the staff in the the U.K. are much further, but what about James and John, for instance...
