Odd, I experienced that issue when the game first came out, then they came out with a fix after a few weeks or whatever, and I never had the problem again.
What the hell? The install file was 117 MB (is that right?), I installed it, it appeared in the mod list, I ran it, but clicking on Start New Game just brings me right back to the menu, nothing loads. Anyone else getting this?
That's good to hear. Just wanted to make sure Valve didn't do any kind of deactivation after months of time going by without connecting to your account.
Okay, I just want to ask this to make sure:
I haven't been able to update Steam since late August and won't get to again until late December (campus network). At that time, will the updates go smoothly and normally (albeit having multiple GBs of data to download), or will I experience some...
But I imagine that basic setup would have to be updated, no?
Oh well, looks like I'll be using the current GUI until Christmas. :(
On a side note, I've been looking for a way to set up a VPN so I can use my home internet connection here at school to use Steam normally. If anyone can help...
I don't think so. Steam won't change anything when I restart it because it can't download any updates through itself, because of the blocked ports. But can't I at least get the Steam-specific changes by uninstalling Steam and redownloading the actual .exe myself from steampowered.com and...
No, no, on the network I'm on all Steam ports are blocked so I can only use Steam in offline mode. I can't update anything or play online until I go back to my network at home over Christmas break. I'm asking if I can uninstall and redownload and install Steam to JUST get these new GUI changes.
A question:
I'm on a campus network where Steam's ports are blocked and so I won't be able to update it again until Christmas break. Whenever the new Steam interface is released, could I obtain THOSE updates only by simply uninstalling Steam and redownloading it? Or would it still need to...
There's nothing to mod LOL.
How about, umm...the game.
Sorry you got denied, Dante, but yes, that is one good thing that came out of this whole mess. Soon we'll have the ability to make our .gcfs, and that'll be great for giant mods like yours.
Well, looks like the plan went belly-up.
Dante, care to give your opinions on this matter here? I'm interested in how Valve explained this to you personally (if they did at all).
Okay, so, when someone's ready to distribute a mod, do they just give out the folder, people put it in their SourceMods directory, and it'll appear in the Play games list just from that?
Buildcubemaps did not work properly before for some people, like myself.
Valve's really accomplishing some great stuff. The number of updates since the game's been released is simply amazing. And this, wow, they really fixed/improved EVERYTHING.
I don't get how people can not like Steam.
No, no, it's not that, it's simply a way to access information without Steam, but still WITH Steam's validation and approval.
Yes, he could just put everything in plain folders, but when he's going to be using thousands of files, that's not exactly something he wants to do. He wants a way to...
