OpenGL doesn't work as far as I know. You have to run CS 1.6 in D3D mode. I haven't tested 1.6 yet.

Yea it looks pretty suck. The lighting is well...bad. Everyone is bright, no shading really. Maybe it's in beta stages, AND nvidia/ati havent released drivers (cept for Beta 2) for their video cards. Who knows. Vista is in Beta as well don't forget ;).

I have a 4800+ and all my games run smooth. In Source I pull 150+ FPS at 1280x1024 res. I pushed it to 2.6Ghz from the 2.4 and my vid card is OCed a lil as well.

Use the current PC. Get an TV Tuner Card to make it a media center PC. Get Windows Media Center Edition. For a file server you can just install XP Pro or Server 2003.
