Shoot, I just got finished building "the best" (for an intel rig, anyways, see sig below) with only $1100. Of course, I didn't buy any new drives or a monitor. Not to mention I don't have a sound card since I don't want one... but dang. You can easily build it with that. I'm having troubles...
No, I think what you need to do is buy 1GB of DDR2 PC4200 RAM and give it to me, then I will test it for you indefinitely... j/k, anyways, hopefully you figured it out? You haven't been back. (2GB is always better than 1...)
Well, I mean it's not like I'm telling it to do anything, I only turned the power on. I guess that may be the problem, but the intel 915G board I had didn't do that. Oh well, I have to wait for the processor now... I'm afraid of beeps then, I could screw things up.
Well, I have the front panel USB ports plugged in correctly now, but it still does the same thing. I didn't see the USB pins because the large passive heatsink for my X800 Pro was covering them up. One set of USB pins it still barely accessible, however, so I am using those. Now that I am...
Oh, I think maybe I figured it out, but I don't have time right now to check. I might have connected the front panel USB plugs into the FireWire pins on the mobo by accident. Anyways, I'm leaving now, so any other help would be great.
I just received most of the parts for my new rig. I ended up going with this ABIT mobo(http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=13-127-188&depa=0) because of the price. Not a bad deal for a 925XE chipset board, eh? Anyways, there are two seven-segment LED displays on the...
Would either of these be good power supplies? http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=17-182-009&depa=1 or http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=17-182-010&depa=1
So any advice on a good PSU? I'm only looking to spend about $250-$300 total for the mobo/tower/PSU, so probably around $50 or so for the PSU? 3-stage phase change system? Sounds complex, like it's chemistry or something...
Thanks for all the help. So what is wrong with that PSU, then? Is it the wattage or something else? What PSU would you recommend instead? If only I could get them to switch it out with the one in the tower... I'm not too thrilled about paying more money. Anyways, I await your advice.
No, I know that the slower hertz doesn't make it worse, but anyways, my current setup doesn't even use any AA or AS and is pretty much the lowest setting for everything. I will be happy with it.
ic. I've heard that about AMD, but I'm used to Intel. I already bought it and would rather have it. So yeah, I'll get more advice tomorrow then, I guess.
ic... well I was thinking of purposely not getting an Intel mobo. I've heard that other boards have better OC support than Intel, cause they obviously wouldn't want to let you go faster, when they could make more money by making you buy a faster processor.

There's the download link. Is it bad to post that here for some reason? If so I'll remove it.

That's what I use and it works great. They have updates like every 1-2 days. They've changed their site, but I'm sure you can find what you're looking for.
I am in the process of building a new comp, and now pretty much all I need are a tower and a mobo. How do this http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=13-127-180&catalog=23&manufactory=BROWSE&depa=1 mobo and this...
If you use the hard drive with Windows XP already on it in your new computer, then yes that will work fine. I don't know about system restore disc, though, so if you do that I'm not sure.
Yep, what Shamrock and Netguru said. I got a 40GB Nomad Zen Xtra for christmas and it works great. At the time, the 40GB one was on sale, so it didn't cost much more than the 30GB one. Now it's probably gone back up, but 30GB is still plenty. The battery life isn't perfect, but it's still...
