Just installed this bad boy last week with a 92mm fan and it's doing a great job cooling my AthlonXp 3000+ overclocked to 2.3GHz. While idled, CPU temp is 34c...during load it never goes above 41c and that's while running the Prime95 torture test!!
hell yes.
I have my 9800 Pro OC'd artifact free to 437core/371memory using a VGA Silencer cooler.
That's plenty faster than the default 9800XT speeds.
Dont ever believe that sh1t man, the mod community is just as important as the established game developers...
besides, aslong as your having fun being creative and if atleast one person plays your mod and enjoys it then you're successful.
It's not the clock speed that matters, especially when comparing AMD to Intel CPUs.
The older P4 CPUs are notorious for their sluggish performance, regardless of their 2.0GHz clock speed.
CAT 4.1's run everything smooth for me. IMO best thing to do with new driver releases is try 'em out...if your games take a performance hit or apps are unstable just roll back to your previous drivers.
Every post like this that i read from a mod just reinforces my belief that the majority...
Aslong as you have a motherboard that supports dual-channel RAM and you're using more than one stick of RAM you can run in dual-channel. So (given that your mobo supports it) either one of your RAM choices will allow you to utilize dual-channel.
Besides that, running in dual-channel will...
When you disabled v-sync, did you do it in the UT2003.ini file in the system's directory? or did you do it in your display driver control panel? Go to the UT2003.ini file and scroll down until you find the section with the v-sync option and set it to false. Should be under a section called...
Coincidently i just installed a VGA silencer on my 9800 Pro over the weekend. Dont know about the Giant though. The VGA Silencer was cheap ($22) and quite easy to install and i got a nice OC from it. It even cooled my case a bit because the cooler channels the hot air that comes off the card...
Do you have UT2003? If so try running the benchmark.exe in the game's system directory. It will give you a "Flyby" and "Botmatch" score as a result. As far as i know the botmatch result depends mostly on your CPU and may be a good way of seeing any performance increase when you OC.
Just a little side note about AGP aperture size... "AGP Aperature Size" determines the maximum amount of system RAM that can be allocated to the graphics card for texture storage.....its not how much of the video card's 'own' memory is used.
If your graphics card has very little graphics...
