The more that I look at the ship, the more I think that it might not necessarily be a ship at all.
I think it might be a giant cell-phone tower or 802.11 router.
Current Analysis:
The weapon is Gordon. And/or access to the G-Man's stable. End of HL2 implies as much.
The "Vault" is most likely the ship. Then again, it could be... y'know.
Oh god, I just realized. We're about to start this whole dance again.

I'm currently sitting about a 15 minute drive away from Valve, actually, in Redmond, WA. Got out of the USMC a few years back and am currently about half a year away from graduating with an undergraduate CS degree.
As Valve goes, the world will follow. The headsets and lighthouses will get cheaper (the most recent generation of lighthouses is a particularly relevant example, they are significantly cheaper to manufacture (... if not buy...) than the first). At first I was tenuous, but I've been killing...
