Haha, if most of HoN's playerbase will go over to DOTA 2 (very likely) as well as the current DOTA community well.. let's just say DOTA 2's community isn't going to be much better.

I'd wager if you want to really acclimatise yourself to DOTA then playing HoN would be the way to go. They are pretty much identical, especially in terms of the community for better or worse (mostly worse).
