Police turn violent in wall street protests

Any movement has wackos in it, though. Almost every opinion has complete idiots that adhere to it. If you focus on that, you basically can't hold any viewpoint without being ashamed.

Man arrested for beastiality claims prostitute turned into a donkey

I think that being a prostitute who turned into a donkey every time the clock struck 4am would be absolutely awful. I can't imagine a more terrifying life.

Troops pulling out of Iraq by end of year

The board index only displayed this thread as "troops pulling out of Iraq by..." and I had the strangest sense it would end with the word "bus". Still, you have to make a distinction between "oh, I'm so disappointed in Obama that he didn't x y and z I really thought he'd pull through"...

What do your dads look like?

He's sort of a stealth eccentric. Sharply dressed, apparently conventional taste, oldish, erudite, distinguished...then he cracks a gutteral laugh or gets really slit-eyed angry about something. He's a landlord, and is attempting to be a writer on the side. He used to work in publishing and then...

    Brindle Blog Thread

What can I say? I'm a generous man. For example, there's a new post up, and I'm not even charging you five pence per word to read it. It's called 'Groping and Touching' and it's about the similarities between smartphone UIs and videogames; it ends by proposing a remote-groping application for...

What do your dads look like?

My dad looks a bit like this picture of Hunter S. Thompson; he seems austere and upright but has a strong shouty temper and a very active sense of humour. He is extremely opinionated and keeps a noticeboard full of photographs of attractive bald men, apparently to remind himself that such things...

    Brindle Blog Thread

I'm afraid there is already a confirmed absence of 'James Brindle'. Other names I can neither confirm nor deny.

    Brindle Blog Thread

This is a blog about videogames. It written by John Brindle, who is a fictional character similar to me, and who will in time be joined by other fictional characters similar to other people. Some of you may have seen the link at the bottom of the CS:Go interview Glenn and I did and wondered...

Chet on CS:GO, Part 2: "It's hard to accept change"

It's been a long time since I played either, but it felt (in a general sense) like a fusion of the two. As far as the hitbox goes, it didn't feel as spray-happy as CSS. I think it's going to be more unforgiving, more like 1.6. To be fair, since these people's jobs are predicated on the game...

Chet on CS:GO, Part 2: "It's hard to accept change"

[br] Sit down. Kick off your shoes. Pour a cup of tea. It's time for the second part of our mammoth interview with Chet Faliszek - so big that we caused major delays on the Circle Line when we tried to drag it home from the Eurogamer Expo. In last week's installment we grilled the Valve writer...

FBI/DEA thwart terror plot in U.S. involving Iran

I'm surprised more people aren't talking about the slightly weird, shaky nature of the borderline entrapment that seems to have happened here. The whole 'plot' was from the beginning partly conceived and instigated by US agents, from what I understand of the case.

Terrified couple rescued from Corn Maze

It is hard not to conclude when reading stories like this that we are ultimately completely doomed. I'm trying.

Chet on CS:GO Interview Part 1 - We won't change the rules of CS

We don't know, but it seems likely. In the interview Chet is pretty emphatic in confessing that Valve 'made mistakes' with CSS. With all that humility, it wouldn't make sense if they didn't plan to fix those issues. Moreover, the beta that will soon be going live includes many hardcore 1.6...

Chet on CS:GO Interview Part 1 - We won't change the rules of CS

I don't remember it at all, and was thinking "hey, nice shooting" to myself when I watched it, but it was probably somebody else. Was I drunk?

A decade has gone by since 9/11/01

I came back home after school and sat down to see what was on TV. For fifteen minutes or so I remained under the impression that I was watching a very realistic false documentary movie, and viewed with interest until I realised it was actually happening.

Hey Stig, whatcha' thinkin'? (some personal bullshit)

Maybe it's different for everyone, then - I only know that hard work and activity has always helped me. And absolutely agreed, you need someone who can talk to you who won't judge you and who you feel safe admitting things to. That could be us, if there's no better substitute. :P

Hey Stig, whatcha' thinkin'? (some personal bullshit)

I don't think Stern meant to be an unsupportive dick, and he makes a valid point - professional help can be dead important. Amidst Numbers' CAULDRON OF TOTALITARIAN LIES there is a gem of importance: being busy leaves no time to be depressed. I know that my own feelings of that nature will...

Hey Stig, whatcha' thinkin'? (some personal bullshit)

It's hard to comment because that stuff just seems so incomprehensible. How does a person manage to display such callous disregard for others? Unless you're not representing things accurately (and I believe that you are) I'm completely baffled by that kind of behaviour. In the case of family it...
