The day after April fools, 2006
Acquired HL2 as a gift (HL2 GOTY edition) from my Uncle, mainly wanted it for CS:S but never expected HL2 to be that good. Played HL:S (forgive me for playing this terrible excuse of a port as first experience of HL1) and then the two expansions.
I actually...
EA, Crytek and Epic are rather organized with their engine builds, always having dedicated teams devoted to updating their pipline/tech between iterations. Valve firing the guy that was supposed to fix the hammer editor woes says alot about Valve's priorities on Hammer editor.
I will laugh if...
HLS also has broken lighting (practically full bright at times), pink blood, AI is kinda messed up, UV shader issues, etc.
It's shit in general.
That's ironic considering you have done it too.
Well HL's dialogue is mainly "let X do the talking for the player when the time calls for it". I think having the player anonymous could've been done, its pretty common in some RPG's like TES, FO and even STALKER to a certain degree.
Considering hl2.net during its heyday used be a hostile environment at times, that's actually kind of ironic.
imo ratings are kind of pointless if were going to be yes-men to every posters opinions, should be how like it was originally when vt.net just started out.
Another graphical update...
Both Hammer editor and the HL games are one big metaphor, all of its broken mess. Thanks to Valve being content and lazy with their shitty updates, and then having Alfred take all of the burdens of "fixing" it and he himself admitted he can't fix it all.
I'm not joking, the guns felt like they have no weight and the guns sounded like nerf toys. The AI didn't help matters either.
For example FEAR had way better gunplay.
Good tier: Metro LL
great atmosphere, great graphics and liked the introduction of stealth mechanics. **** you spike TV for not recognizing it this game
Ok tier: TR 2013
Nice graphics, nice shampoo hair and this is probably the sexiest Lara yet. The gameplay however is a different story...
No amount of protests would convince Valve to work on the game, they know what makes them the most $$$ and that isn't HL.
Hats and crates makes them the most money.
It would appear that Valve's flat management structure isn't all that its cracked up to be, considering those that got fired because they didn't fit in with the "social multiplayer experience" or "what makes us the most money"
