If you up the resolution to 1280x1024 or above, you really don't need AA on at all. And i know from personal experience, i get the same performance with my 9600XT when i use trillinear filtering, as I get with 8xAF. So i always use AF, tho you can live without it in CS:S.

I have a p4 1.5ghz, 256 rdram, and a radeon 9600XT. I can actually run CS:S on 1600x1200 no AA, 8xAF at around 30fps. it's funny, cus i scale down to 1280x1024 res wit the same setting and my fps stays the same. I think my cpu is limiting it. That may be your problem as well.

lol, oh well, guess my comp sux...P4 1.5ghz, 256mb rdram, Radeon 9600XT. Funny thing is, I can get a constant 35-60 fps on medium quality with 1024x768, and 4xAA 8xAF. I can bump it up to high quality, but thats when it really starts to stutter. Oh well, I can deal.

Uh oh, it's not part of the AAnistropic filtering options, it just doesn't render small, client side objects at great distances.

I believe this is just part of the Source engine. Entities such as cans, bottles, etc. seem to dissapear at a certain distance. Tho there may be some console commands to change it, I don't know them...

It actually gives you all the damage stats of the people you have hit, or the poeple that have hit you. Looks liek they are starting to add in features which were previously only available in third-party plugins.
