To be honest, it could use a lot of work. Bump maps certainly can create a decent illusion of geometry, but still can't compare to modeled detail, especially when looking at it from far angles like it will be seen from the player's point of view. There are a lot of details that could be added...
I have two gripes. Your polygon distribution is all over the map. Parts out in the open like the front sight appear to be six sided tubes, while the barrel which will never be seen has loads of sides making it nice and round. It appears that all of your attention (and polygons, for that matter)...
I am struggling to see where 2400 polygons are hiding there, but you could lower it by removing the lens area on the front of the scope, unless you have plans for it.
Perhaps you could use the polygons saved from welding those areas to round the trigger guard a little bit more...
I disagree. Tutorials should only be used for learning specific techniques and should be used as a stepping stone, not a bridge to cross. In my opinion, the best way to get started is to study examples and apply the knowledge to your own models. Tutorials are not a replacement for practice, and...
The shape looks good, but the mesh construction is a little messy. You could remove quite a few of the segments on the doors and hood without any visible change. Doing so will also make it easier to work with later in development.
One other thing to note is the inconsistant flow of edges...
I agree about the handle. It needs to be rounded outwards towards the hand. Also, I don't think that putting a box where the slide ridges should be looks very good. If anything, that box should be indented into the slide since it appears that the whole ridge area is indented. Aside from that...
I think it could be a lot better for 2600 polygons. The receiver has quite a few innaccuracies and several areas close to the player's view that could use some detailing and rounding. I can't really say much else about it because of the angle of the render, but I think it could be a lot better...
Let's see what I can dig up in my reference archive...
Here's a decent view of the body of the MP5/10. The rest of it is pretty standard among the 9MM MP5's.

I don't have any other angles of the P99, sorry...
I've been collecting reference images since I started modeling 4 years ago. Being the shameless packrat that I am, I've collected around 50 megs (over a thousand images) of weapon and human anatomy reference images.
The only thing that's wrong with it that I can see is the magazine well. It should be indented like so:
Sorry about the tiny picture, but I don't have many UMP reference images since I've never had to model one.
Anyway, I think the model looks very nice. Good job.
I pointed out a few minor errors that I noticed from this reference picture. Sorry about the quality, but I compressed it to save bandwidth.

Other than those mistakes, the model looks quite nice. How many polygons is it?
Here you go.

How about a wireframe shot so we can see where all of those polygons are? In the state it's in now it shouldn't be any more than a thousand, and even that's being generous.
