And Steam doesn't use that font, or colors. If it was really the HL2 launcher, the text would be more cryptic, and boring looking.. possibly with a bunch of squares and other weird symbols.

Retail CE gives you the game on DVD. Along with a few extra goodies. Steam gold gives you all that useless crap, no hard copies of the game, and the CE box.
