What is it with these developers being professional folks? Developers aren't corporations, they aren't guys who wear a suit and tie to work everyday. They're game fans with skills that they use to make games for money. Some don't even go to the office and work right from home, like a modding...

For AI to be that complex enough to bring up ethical questions, it has to be intelligence with the ability to learn, not just be programmed. Otherwise it would be like a mosquito. You don't see them planning world domination do you? I know of AI programs that people can actually teach...
