I have a P4 2.85Ghz (2.533 OCed) with 1GB DDR400 and a 6800GT. I run at:
1280x1024 4xAA 8xAF.
I would run at 1600x1200, but drops below 60fps annoy me. 1600x1200 is great, but it often goes around 50 to 60, and at 1280x1024 you will get more in the 60-70 range.
Thanks for the reply MoonQuake! Good points. Sometimes it is nice to bounce ideas back and forth, and all your points and ideas are excellent.
Your map is great as it is and I am sure whatever you do, when it is 100% done it will really be GREAT! Thanks for letting me test your map--best...
Great contrast between the sand and the very rough looking canyon walls. This is starting to really shape up... and the lighting is uber sweet! Keep up the good work!
Doh, you are right. It has been a long time since I read the book. But I remember now: They had to walk in unrhythmic patterns so the spice worms would not be attracted. The rhythm of the thumbers WOULD attract them. My bad :( Thanks for the catch man!
The map is only 80% done, so MoonQuake is only running it when testing. So you will need to get lucky or watch the board and wait for him to make a notice that he is testing again.
In the Strider folder in the zip/rar there is a Readme.TXT. It has the path you need to setup for a HL2 shortcut (you cannot just load the map, you need to run the custom command path) AND the map name to load in the console.
Any time frame? Btw, I thought the point and click interface was pretty nice, I hope you keep it in. Anyhow, I have really enjoyed the mod, I look forward to all of your upgrades and hopefully some great maps to go along with it!
You could call it a SP Map.
But I would look at it more as a mini-mod because 1) It has the potential to grow out onto its own and 2) The map is not in the HL2 Universe. Gordon is fighting WITH Combine. And there is new music and a unique feel to it. While in of itself it may not be a full...
I will edit this second post with other suggestions, so if you have found some great maps or mini-mods just post them and I will add them here. Btw, a big thanks to all you modders and mappers out there who are making some kickbutt content for HL2! Thanks!
It looks like HL2 is going to have a LOT of quality mods. It will take a while before we see mods with the Quality of CS, DoD, Sven Opps, TFC, and so forth. But while we wait there are some GREAT mini-mods and maps starting to come out. Below is a quick guide for those of you who have not been...
MoonQuake, I would first like to congratulate you on a job well done. First and foremost is the look. The Combine side looks like the COMBINE side, and the Rebel side looks like the REBEL side. You hit the HL2 Theme on the head. Your choice of textures and the VARIETY are excellent and well...
That is MoonQuake's INVASION TDM map--which TOTALLY ROCKS. For extra credit, that is the Rebel spawn point on the roof, the Helo is dropping you off. Do I get a cookie now?
I 100% believe you. My dad plays games like Doom that way. He would redo a section from his last save point over and over again until he felt he had enough health and ammo to continue on. It is a personaly play style and I can see someone replaying parts if they get hurt. Would be a challenge...
I have had a small list going on the different movies HL2 shares tie-ins with. Personally, I think this is great and is a nice way to pay homage to the defining Sci-Fi Movies that have defined an era, not to mention the movie connections add a sense of depth and familiarity to the HL2 world...
