Nowhere near as fast. You'll get download speeds of around 50 - 55 kbytes/s. With (optus) cable you can get upto 500kbytes/s and beyond. But cable is shared bandwidth (with othes on your block) so sometimes it can be slower. As for pings, adsl should get you anywhere from 30 to 100...

It would be upto the mod teams whether they want to 'sell out'. You can bet that alot of people out their will simply be making mods in the hope that theirs will be the hit and that valve takes them on. Of course, making a decent mod is hard work. Becoming popular is even harder, so maybe...

I'm not a steam supporter either. But I will admit it has it's good points, it's just that I feel that the bad points out weigh them.

It doesn't really bother me. I played the original HL dm for all of 10minutes before moving onto mods. HL is about single player. A half decent multi-player will just be a bonus.

HL1 was linear but it was damn fun. I'm replaying it now on hard to pass the time. I never usually play a game on hard, simply because games usually aren't designed to be played on that setting. It's still proving to be fun and after I finish it, I shall be moving onto OP4. Again. :)
