Linear gameplay does not = bad.
Non-linear gameplay does not = bad.
It's all about how the developers implement it.
Dues-Ex is probably the best example of a game with non-linear gameplay and HL1 of linear gameplay.
Wait till you actually play the game.
You don't have to play it like the E3 video. I'm sure if you wanted to, you could have walked down that length of catwalk next to the building instead of entering the building.
And you don't have to duck, or block the door or anything else. They were...
That's funny, you accuse someone else of being a fanboy, yet, you yourself are one;
"an nVidia card So I'm guessing these are just more half-assed (ati)drivers before they release their super drivers?"
Alot of you are underestimating the warez groups. They got BF1942 to work, How'd they do it? They just made a cracked BF1942 server that did not autheticate the client version.
Of course these cracked servers were like 1 in 50. But it was still done.
I'm guessing that to do a similar...
"So Steam is going to fail, and you are the only guy who realises it? QUICK! get hold of Valve - they need your expertise."
I didn't say fail. It's just going to be congested for a fair while.
Sarcasm is the lowest form of humour.
No matter how much bandwidth they have, it will never be enough. The more bandwidth they acquire will just increase the amount of people who will try to use it at the same time, therefore we go back to congestion.
And yes, I too shall be buying it in store. Box, manual, a proper cd and my...
It could use both in conjuction couldn't it? It gets authentication straight from a Vavle steam server. But it gets all the content from a BT type system. This content is then checked using the secure connection.
Really, they should of intergrated bittorent or a similar technology into steam. Would have saved them a whole lot of bandwidth. And it will solve all the speed problems and congestions when major releases happen.
Marauder: Havok is not a game engine unto its self. It's just the physics engine that Valve has intergrated into source. And at the same time, I assume they added their own touches too it and even helped Havok develop their tech. further.
Win2000. Only way to go.
"XP pro
The only OS that has a ctrl+alt+del function that works..."
Win2k and XP both have pretty the same ctrl+alt+del function.
It's going to confuse alot of people for a start -- is it actually fact that there will be a no MP/mod version?
As for steam. I mainly just hate how I have to run it just to play the game. I was going to a small lan that did not have net access. I used steam to get the latest CS 1.6 build...
I also hate how they're will be different versions.
But most of all, I hate steam.
Oh, and I think you got caught up in all the rumours(pay to play). But meh.
Who ever voted for this one "Get HL2 Right after Work/School" are not welcome to play HL2. I mean, you won't even skip school or work? Where's the dedication, people?
Somehow I am getting it early (explain how): Well I'm guessing that Razor, or some other group will get it out earlier than the proper release date.
But don't worry, I be buying it too, I just want it asap.
