His helmt looks really fat. Maybe you should hollow it out so around the bottom is doesnt look really thick.
On the whole though i think its a great start, character modelling isnt easy at all, so great work :)

Chamfer is the damn best tool around, id be lost without it. I spose it would be easy to get lost with it though. I did tutorials that included Chamfering thats how i learnt it maybe you guys need to find some tutorials.
Just make sure your in editable poly with edges sub object menu...
Thats the point in bump mapping, adding tiny detail without any need for more polys. Also adds heaps of realism to models like humans.

Dont know any tutorials but i can give you some hints/tips.
Basically you export your texture maps like you would if you where to skin it. Paint it completly white and then paint the areas black you want bumped.
White is not bumped Black is bumped.

Sorry mister 100% right all the time :angel: Yeah it was a broad statement, one setting of brazil uses a 3d max skylight, but most of the time it uses its own cant remember what its called light, but thats under the skylight setting in brazil. Anyway screw brazil, if you can get the same result...
3d max has a huge amount of lighting features avaliable just play around with them all.
Shadows: If you want shadows you need a light source and something for the shadow to reflec on. So make a plane lay your model on it, put in a light aiming at the model right click the light properties...
Well most famous for clay renders is brazil. Brazil uses a default 3d max skylight to get that effect.
So for my G18 Glock Custom renders which is in another thread, i just chucked a skylight in and it came out looking like a brzil render. Only downside is each render took about 20 mins on...

I made a standard Glock 18, cause they are damn fine looking weapons, and who can go past the full automatic ability :). Once done i cutomized it with a Silencer, Tactical Light, Extended Clip and Custom Aim Point System. The aimpoint was of my own design and i think it came out alright...
