for the person asking about the CPU or video card, take the CPU man, you're already heavily bottlenecked; either way you go, you'll want a new mobo with it and possibly PSU
again tho, stability means nothing unless you're a heavy multitasker
it's so much easier to do a quick reboot when you don't have much running because when you have all this crap going, it's very annoying to start everything back up; makes me wonder what's the record uptime for WinXP; all...
how long do you usually go without a reboot and how much crap do you have running?
processes: 60, commit charge: 565mb (pf), full load 24/7, 18229 handles, 760 threads atm
what really pisses me off is that when I run a game and then exit out, I automatically gain 200mb of physical memory...
sry for late reply but about WinXP... after having not rebooted for usually 3+ days (going on 11 days now) every damn problem you can think of almost will have happened; odd thing is, it almost seems to repair itself sometimes; for example, with 30+ i.e. windows open, they may now and then...
wow, those comparisons suck; if the game runs well with good settings then I won't upgrade; but if it does, the most I'll do is go from a 1600+ to a 2400+ for $70 so I'm not bottlenecking the 8500
BINK videos run choppy because of the Blitting style. If I didn't have RAD tools it would've run choppy on mine too.
it runs slow on slow computers; but I've heard it can be very choppy on some high-end machines; I get a constant 30fps playback with a 1600+
geez ppl, nice job, just got through reading 114 pages without getting up from my chair, sad... nice read, DAMN fast moving thread, like 12 per minute, sheesh
oh my bad, you were talking about CS concerning the fps
got ut2k3 mixed up with that game, since ut2k3 also supports npatches
either way, my previous post still stays
well, that n-patches command is to disable truform, not sure about the other one, don't have ut2k3 myself
besides that, I see no difference with tf on in ut2k3, so no biggie probably with it off
that's what we said 8 months ago... nVidia will release the 5900U and blow away ATi; did that happen? no
that's why predictions are often criticised
but, I do agree, history will tell you that it shouldn't be too long before nV brings out the killer
they've had a year since the R300 came out...
