Oh yeah, forgot about this. Definitely hate that one too.
One more to add to my list: "Rubberbanding" AI in racing games. No matter how well you drive, one mistake and half the god damn racers pass you by. I prefer the way older racing games worked where you could build up a huge lead on...
+1 on the hate for QTE and regenerating health.
Now for other annoying things that may or may not be game mechanics:
The whole "return to the game area or we will kill you!" thing from the Battlefield single player campaign. When that shit happened, it pissed me off so bad I ragequit, and...
Except that it doesn't. Graphene based solar panels have already been created. Silicon is not a factor anymore.
Price of production/maintenance has gone down in recent years and will continue to go down as the technology improves.
There already are places in the world where solar energy is...
Since we're talking about graphene.
EDIT:
Also, @ Vegeta:
How about this. Combine graphene super capacitors with high efficiency graphene solar panels, and voila you have cheap, on demand solar energy.
The two main problems of solar energy are efficiency, and a good method of storing...
WTF indeed.
Also I love it how every time it's obvious that a new game will be terrible, there are those people that defend it with the same tired resposes.
Such as:
"Stop complaining, reserve judgment after you've played it".
"5 hours of gameplay is fine. Who wants to spend 10+ hours in a...
That's what difficulty settings are for. As far as I'm concerned I want to feel like a tank, otherwise what's the point of the fancy pants nanosuit of armor. This brings to mind the Storm Trooper armor, that's just there too look cool, but provides no protection at all.
Similarly it was a great disappointment for me when I moved on from Blood 1 and realised that I couldn't play football with the severed heads of corpses in other games.
You know what would be funny? Sending a link to this thread to a video game violence critic.
Luckily, Max Payne 3 made up for whatever enjoyment you might have felt shooting people, by adding copious amounts of CUT SCENES! Oh and switching your weapons at random. Easily one of the most annoying games I've played in recent years.
I agree. I've watched Firefly a while back and while it was an enjoyable show, it was just OK, not fantastic.
As for BSG, the exact opposite to Raz happened to me. I first watched the miniseries was intrigued then proceed to watch the series, and the more I watched the more I hated it. Mainly...
That's what video settings are for. I would like the option to have that interactivity present regardless of the impact on performance. And I'm skeptical of how much of an impact a few bodies could have. FEAR 1 had fully interactive ragdoll corpses, that you could slide kick all over the map...
Speaking of ragdoll deaths, there's one thing in particular that I hate, and I keep noticing it more often. In most FPS nowadays once an enemy is killed his corpse becomes a "non interactive" object. Meaning ragdoll physics is turned off, no bullet hole decals if you shoot the corpse, hell no...
Almost everyone has a dash cam out of necessity. Cases of road rage, traffic accidents, and insurance cons are very frequent, so a dash cam is a must, to prove that you are innocent.
