Hello HL2.net, I know we have a forum to discuss literature but I can almost certainly say it is even less read than the off-topic forum, which is why the topic is here. I hope it is reasonable for it to be in this section, at least for a few weeks, so that it gains enough exposure for more...
That's usually what I do, but the thing is that sometimes the people that turn out to be somewhat bigoted are long-time friends or otherwise people you can't immediately delete. What is preferable here, at least for me, is to introduce some kind of message in their comments (or elsewhere)...
Man, that sucks. I have a few friends who post neutral/no-stance questions or statements on their walls and have a bunch of people from both sides of the argument state why they defend their views. What's gained is actual thoughtful discussion coming from both sides, as well as the occasional...
I don't think it should be too surprising to find that like-minded people look for and form groups with each other. This goes for HL2.net as much as it goes for openly hateful circles of people. I don't even find it upsetting anymore. I just wish they'd have as much exposure to what they hate...
I miss driving and listening to music. My car had an old stereo with a cassette player which you could hook up to an mp3 player. This didn't do wonders for the listening quality, but it still made driving a lot more pleasant.
Anyway, you could still do CDs if you can't be bothered to replace...
Hell yeah prunes, although prunes are a bit of a mixed bag for me. If I eat the right amount (i.e. two or three) there will be no constipation. Usually, since they're so delicious, three will not suffice to quell my appetite for prunes. So I'll have 6, or 10.
If you ever want to fart like...
(づ '‿ '。)づ: It's weird but I used to structure m3u playlists for a particular month and as a consequence can recall the circumstances of that time period. Specific scenes—if I was walking or exercising.
Nothing comes closer to evoking a particular zeitgeist than the sense of smell, though...
lollers, are you implying i'm a hetairian? it isn't the case. though i do remember being butthurt that i wasn't one and then they closed the public forum or whatever it was waaaaay back in the day.
how would you imagine a forum is made? if I wanted to make a forum based on another forum's...
Hahah, what the hell? I don't know, I mean these smileys look more appropriate for some consumer-level forum. But we're geeks at HL2.net! We demand better smileys. Or not.
I see that there's a social media button! I don't know if this place can generate enough karma to be on the front page of...
Doesn't finishing uni mean that you graduated, technically?
Anyway, not that you or anybody else here cares, but I had a brief stint as an algebra tutor and am now working to finish a degree in computer science. Programming is something I don't mind, although my nebulous career goals are...
Saw this some time ago. I remember reading The Illustrated Man and one of the stories seems to be the reference to one of Radiohead's songs, titled something like Packed Like Sardines in a Tin Can. Fantastic book.
Is that really so? I had the impression that with fewer posts, the posters who did stick around here would coalesce into a kind of small community. I don't know if it's that much of a bad thing that there are fewer topics being made. What I do see is a lot of views on each and every one of the...
What demon motivates you to say such truth? Elaborate upon this, I say.
I like how a pattern like that, which is present in celestial bodies, can also appear in microscopic scales, like in animal cells, for instance.
Winner right here, man. Total class.
60 years? Damn. If you're bored some time, send yourself to your bookshelf, and you would do good in sending me as well, because it's really cool to have a collection which shows ideas that have survived those 60 years. It's part of the charm. My parents...
Yes, hl2.net; I have indeed asked this question. You see, I'm in the process of Seeing how to design a bookshelf for myself when I decide to make the time to undertake such a task. In the mean time I decided some of you fine chaps might have a better vision or are better educated in all things...
I don't look of it in terms of a delusion. For all I know about how chemical processes in the brain work, you're probably right about it being a delusion though. However, I don't want to make it seem like its a romanticized mood in which magical powers of intelligence are suddenly conferred to...
Things are starting to make more sense now. And I definitely feel you on the high school part - when I was in HS, I was too busy mindlessly studying and ignoring good times with people who considered me their friends. Also was pretty damn ignorant about a great amount of things... ugh. It's a...
