Played a fair bit, explored my first Dwemer ruin under M-- ah, crap, the Nord city built from a ruined Dwemer one. I absolutely, positively love Dwemer stuff, so presently I'm running around with a bow, set of armour (sans helmet), sword and shield made from Dwemer alloys. It's quite awesome.
If anyone recalls, Afterfall is a Polish action game set in an alternate, post-nuclear Europe. It's demo wnet live yesterday and today NMA brings you GIFTS in the form of previews and Screencaps:

Problem is, people don't do that. People usually post inane bullshit like "[x] game has an [y] Metacritic score, so it's TEH BEST GAEM EVAR". I can't count the times I've heard the argument "Fallout 3 is better than Fallout 1 because of a higher Metacritic score".
It's still a badly designed, crappy user interface. The fact that you're getting used to navigating it doesn't mean it's not badly designed and ill-conceived.
I got Skyrim and I must say, it grows on me. I feel like in Morrowind again, actually, which is good. Voicework is fine and racial...
CVG has an interesting article tackling the issue of review score bloat and the fallacy of using MEtacritic score as an argument (which, sadly, has surfaced around here):

Made up for with an unique, non-cliched gameworld, an interesting story with a good hook for the player (you become the Nerevarine, you become one, a subtle, but big difference), lots of varied characters and original stories to find etc. It was bugged as shit, I'll give you that, but it more...
I'm opposed to bad design and bad craftsmanship. I have nothing against Bethesda games if they are good. I love Morrowind and its expansions, for instance.
Let me get this straight: Bethesda actually learned a lesson or two about balancing from the abysmal gameplay of Fallout 3 and Oblivion and the game's actually a challenge this time?
Term inflation ahoy! Why not use MAJESTIC to describe that? This simply means that it's competent, good design. Certainly doesn't sound like something groundbreaking or terribly inventive. Merely Bethesda catching up with the modern world.
Come on guys, give me some honest criticism, not vague...
How's the story, characters, writing and voice acting, by the way? I've read about some really crappy stuff, including a half-an-hour long MAJESTIC intro that manages to make the creepy and inane Fallout 3 introductory sequence seem a marvel of game design.
