Dude it's obviously some kind of tag attached to the bullet he fired, if he doesn't manage to frag his enemy in one shot he'll have a triangulation of his wherabouts after that.

Hardly, anyone from the old TFC and TF communities can see that FF is staying more true to the core element that is TF. TF2 looks like a blast and I will definently play it but if I want true old fashioned TF play I'll stick too FF.

You can't judge TFC from where it's at today, now it's mostly just llamers and a few good honest players and of course the closed clan games. Public servers nowadays is just that a noobfest. Back in the golden days TFC was pure gold. I hope TF2 and more especially Fortress Forever can bring back...
The models no doubt look low poly since they are the w_models not the v_models. The w_models are the world models eg the models every player can see and are server side models, thus they require to be low poly for performance reasons. v_models on the other hand are the client side ones you see...
Three years is a very reasonable time for a full conversion mod for HL2. Heck even HL mods could take that long to develop, and they didn't require half the amount of work that needs to go into a mod these days.
I'm pretty sure Valve has had seperate teams developing each episode so I'll doubt it will be that far between each release.
