USB's all used, and it doesn't solve the problem anyway. The mobo seems to keep the mouse powered / on standby for some reason, but surely that function can be set on or off. The keyboard doesn't stay on, so why should the mouse? Remember, I don't have any "power up on mouse double click"...

Don't forget about the static electricity! Just touching your new components can fry them if you dont know what you are doing. Make sure you set all your jumpers correctly, and understand where to plug in all the fiddly things like the power switch, standby switch, power led, drive activity led.....

I thought that if I said this twice in my first post, I would avoid this impractical, and "noob" solution. I guess I was wrong. I appreciate the help, but please read properly first. Surely someone with super computer wizardry has an idea of bios / windows settings that can be fiddled with.
