Im pretty sure it goes like this: The one without the beam can pick stuff up and can objects with secondary fire. The one with the beam can pickup humans etc and drop it, not throw it.

The gravity gun will be in singleplayer. He talked about it in that interview on gamespot. You pick it up using left click and you can throw it using right click.

The system specs of what your going to upgrade is fine since p4's dropped there prices on the cpu's. Dont go with the sdram tho.
