Ok... at risk of sounding stupid (Ah well, it happens of'en enough): Was there a worldwide update to allow play of the Source games without the DVD inserted, or was the European Collector's Edition just made with this feature after so many complaints from U.S. gamers?

Are these compatible? I'm waiting on my pre-order of 'HL2:CE' (UK/European Release = Dec-10) and was just wondering if anybody knew if it worked.

Someone asked for a photo of the Collector's Edition. I know someone put a link up, but this way saves screwing around with other sites. I've still got my original 'Half-Life' tee from the Generation pack. (Half-Life GOTY + Opposing Force only, when PC games were still in huge cardboard...
