I had 1 gig o' rammo, but i just bought another 512, and my god bf2 is so much better- faster loading times (yes that verifying client data is sped up too) and NO lag at the start of games that i used to get. My framerate is up significantly, and i can even fly planes now! yay!
I would highly recommend a ram upgrade if you are getting poor performance in bf2, it laps it up.

Over and out.

I guess BF:2 is one of the many and more to come games that's going to run sexy with 2 gigs.

Ofcourse without knowing anything else about your system and setup that info is useless. I just upgraded to 1gb this morning and it help my C:SS playing thats definate. I'll give BF2 a shot later.

ISDN (lol) is being whored by torrents at the moment.

Yeah, BF2 is the kinda game that needs a lot of RAM. I myself have to play it on medium textures just to get stutterless play. I would love to get more RAM but its either get another 1gb or nothing. My motherboard doesn't like 3 sticks.

Well now its
AMD 64 3200+ (lowly skt 754)
Leadtek 6800gt AGP
1.5 gb Kingmax DDR400
I have pretty much all settings on high (except one i think, cant remember what it was)

So thanks to the ingenious person who invented socket 754 with 3 dimm slots, and my ingenious purchase of it, 1.5 is as high as i can go, unless i go for 1gb sticks (which i wont).

Dumb Dude, thats incredible that YOU have to play on medium to get smooth gameplay, thats a good bloody rig. Surely something's not quite right there?

Hmm, that's odd.

I keep everything at high, except for lighting and AF, and I play fine. Lighting is at medium because I don't care about dynamic arm lighting, and AF is at medium just to keep the frames a tad higher (in other words, I use to play with it high, but lowered it for a few frames headroom in heated battles).

What resolution do you guys play at? I'm going to try running it with lighting on medium and see how that checks out.

i only run at 1024x768- looks plenty good enough for me.
I guess you're trying to run it on your cinema screen? LOL

A64 3000+, 9600XT, 1G of RAM and minimal to no stutter during play. Overheating and lag is another thing...

My veryfying time is 30 seconds :) with 1gb of ram.

Ditto

I play everything on low at 8x6 res. Only way I can without mass stuttering all the time.

2.8 ghz p4
1 gig 3200 ram
9600XT<--- That's my problem too :(

Something is seriously wrong then.

I have a 2.2p4
512 ram
9600xt and while loading takes a bit and its jerky for a few minutes when you first get in, it runs great after that. 1024x res, everything except dynamic light and shadows on medium.
