recently the administration has decided to limit us to posting one message every 30 seconds, this is not an affront to you, this is to keep your message boards free from spam, last night, and many other nights before that, we had someone come on these boards and post like 40 messages every minutes saying fake spoilers etc.

i would just like to say good job guys, its a great decision and i doubt it will discourage or piss off anyone but the spammers

Yes, it has. lol

I speed read. It is a pain for me at times because I post in one thread and then go to another thread and respond to that thread and get that 30 second message. ;)

yeah alot of these boards have restrictions like that, the battle.net is alot more harsh

i think upping the timer limit to say a minute or perhaps two minutes wouldn't hurt at all.

No, even 30 seconds is sometimes too much

does the 30 second rule apply to starting new threads as well?

it kinda bugs me sometimes tho when im not spamming jsut typing really fast but oh well

-merc

It takes about 30 seconds to load up a page anyway, so this doesnt affect me :D

The 30 second posting rule has caught me many times on 56k....only just. If you wait about 5 seconds and then try it usually works. It's a bit of an annoyance when you have multiple pages going. Type a response in one switch to another and post there - come back and you can't post. Meh.
It stops the spam and dosent annoy people too much.

2 minutes would be real pain in the...some random body part that when stabbed with 2 minutes of hot barbed wire feels painful. Just so ya know.

How come double posts still occur? Shouldn't it stop people from making double-posts on accident? :(

In my experience, when I've double posted, I didn't think it had worked or I had forgotten that I had already posted which meant I had to type out the message again which took 30 seconds/however long the limit it is for posting. Could be a reason why people are still making double posts by accident.

Some forums have a nifty little feature, that if a post is added by the same user who last posted within x amount of time, in the same thread, whatever he types in that post will just be added to his previous post, as if he had edited it, however, if someone managed to get a post in between, it will be created as a new post.

Holy Crap, What Am I Going To Do For 30 Seconds?

If I Can't Post Every 2 Seconds, My Life Will Suck

That is good, that's why these forums are relative free from spam.

Well thats not needed because thats just like the edit button.
Which oooooh so many people are using, right? :upstare:

On the VERC they had problems with double posts in the comments. Now it compares what you have posted before to what you are posting now - and if they match give you a nice "Sorry, you have already said that"

Hehe. Well you could do that but it may add a fair bit of server load. *shrug
