110 Halo 2 In-Game Screenshots

Graphically, the in-game screenshots were mediocre. However, the cut scences look amazing. I have a problem with that, I want my cut scences to look how the game actually looks like. That way I don't get accidently drawn out of the game.

Why can't this game be for the PC? The PC could easily fix all the problems of Halo 2 graphically.

Blah, the halo 2 engine is quite powerful. The engine is rendering the cut scenes, that's why the framerate drops very low, according to the people who have played the leak. If it was pre-rendered, it would be at a constant 30 FPS.

The xbox just isn't able to handle all the spiffy lighting, shadowing and bump mapping at a consistent framerate. The actual in-game graphics were dumped down therefore. Hopefully the PC version is able to make full use of the hardware.

Edit: I'm sorry I didn't read your post properly, is this what you were talking about? :)

No, I mean there shouldn't be a substantial difference between the graphics from in-game footage and a cut scene. One minute you are looking at a highly detailed, heavily bumpmapped model and the next minute you are in-game and the same model looks like crap. I don't want eye candy that can only be shown off during cut scenes. That aggravates me to no end.

Compared to the graphics of most console games coming out this year, Halo 2 is for sure on top.

Who cares if the graphics aren't totally and completely top of the line? They're more than serviceable. What matters is that Halo 2 is gonna be a blast to play!

Who gives a fvck about Halo 2? :hmph:
Oh yeah, that's right...millions of people besides me.

Could you please elaborate what's so horrible about the graphics? I think it looks great(and what are you comparing it to), but that's not the important thing. The gameplay, will in my opinion and DarkStar's words, be an absolute blast to play! :D

But aren't those shots from the leaked version and thus illegal?

Hmm. Some of those screens are DEFINITELY spoilers. I saw a new enemy, probably the Drone, and a new weapon. No more screens for me.

[edit] As for my opinion of the graphics: I think that, based on those screens, the graphics look "dirty", but then again, those screens are probably compressed JPEGs, and a good lot of them are pixellated. So I fully expect the in-game graphics to look much cleaner than what those screens represent.

I am 100% sure these screenshots are from the leaked version. All screenshots are low quality, obviously taken from a TV screen or with tv capturing equipment, they are blurry.

ALL screenshots bungie has released so far is high quality, high res and in optimal situations, without bluriness, to promote their game as much as possible, to make it look "good".

That site is really, really small. The forums are empty, now why the heck would Bungie send them a .rar 110 screenshots? Bungie releases all their screenshots officially on their site. If it's not from Bungie, it's either a scan from an image or in this case, taken from a TV playing the leaked version.
The website is full to the brim with low quality "e-mail smileys" and such ads, and if you hover the cursor over certain words, a link to this thing on eBay shows up, something a professional site would not do.

Bungie is extremely careful with spoilers aswell, the only screenshots with Drones and the likes are from magazine previews and not released officially, and certainly not sent to some site at the anus of the cyberspace.

edit: just saw it confirmed at Filefronts forum, they delete threads and posts with links to these screenshots.

IGN and Gamespy used to have those, they removed them a few weeks ago.

Halo 2 > GT4

Halo 2 is coming out for PC HOPEFULLY 6 months or so after the XBox version.

Well first, Bungie is owned by Microsoft, which means there was no doubt it would be coming out for the XBox first. Second, even if they weren't owned by M$ I'm sure they would still release on the XBox. That's where the original was released and got huge praise, and that's know where Halo 2 WILL be accepted. On HaloPC yea it was pretty sweet, but you got plagued by low fps, bad netcode, and not extreme ammounts of people playing it. Like less than 200 people or something.

I really didn't look at those screens due to fear of spoiler after I read what that one person said, but from the 3 or so I looked at, looked kick-ass to me! Even the new 6 minute video relleased from www.teamxbox.com showed the game in all it's glory in-action!

I love Halo!!!!! Oh and I bought the limited special edition of course! ;) AND got XBox Live pretty much just for Halo2 ;) Oh and RS3:BA
