12yr old looks like a 1yr old!

If they figure out what she's got, they may be able to stop the aging process on other people D:

i hope they figure out how to make people not age within the next ten years so im not old
 
I don't get why her mind doesn't develop.. she's had 12 years to learn at least 1 word, and she hasn't? wtf is that? It doesn't make sense that her mind doesn't age...

BTW, I'd take the age stopping thingy at 21 years old.. then you can legally drive/smoke/drink..

Plus, the physical fitness you can be at the peak fitness FOREVER!!!!! Go to a party some says "How old are you?" you say "162, bitch" they be like "ZOmG!1!!! SECHS ME UPS!!1" then you say "dass right, biotch"

hm, that kid might live for 200 years. She ages slow so at the age of 100 she can look like 20.

Except for the severe respiratory problems, ulcers, tumors, seizures, strokes, etc.. That they mention.
 
it's not that she doesnt age, it's that she doesnt grow ..her body wont develop along with her brain but she'll age just like the rest of us
 
Aw, I was dissappointed. I thought it would be like, a one year old baby sassing the camera man or something, but she jsut got carried around. She might as well be a regular baby.
 
yes, something is fishy with her cells, she doesn't grow at all. Perhaps her cells don't divide as much/divide too much/in the wrong way? That would explain the tumors. It's freaky but at the same time terrible, she'll never grow, never learn, and will die early of horrible diseases.

However, study of her genome could reveal the smoking gun to a longevity gene.

So does her brain develop while she continues not to grow?
 
thats just freeky :S reminds me of that TV show with the talking baby.. forgot the name.

Yes she does, but very limited at that. She still crawls around but her muscles have developed to a point where she can pull herself around. And she can also try to pull herself out of her crib. In fact at the end she was rocking herself! But for some reason her body just stopped growing. And she can't mentally grow to even say her parents names.
 
Just because she doesn't grow or change appearances, doesn't mean she won't die when a normal human being dies. Even if she didn't have all those medical health issues, she'd still die normally. She just might look very young by the time she does eventually die of natural causes.
 
it has pretty startlingly big implications when you think about it
 
One of my really good friends has a sister with something like this, only much less extreme. She's my age, and yet she looks like she's about 8.
