CSIRO (Australia)
DLR (Germany)
Esa (European Space Agency)
ISRO (India)
JAXA (Japan)
KARI (South Korea)
Nasa (USA)
NSAU (Ukraine)
Roscosmos (Russia)

ORIGINS OF STARFLEET???!!!11oneone

Nasa wants to send astronauts back to the lunar surface by 2020, with a view to building a permanent lunar base.

Oh come on, 13 ****ing years from now? Get a move on!

Anyway, yaaay great more space exploration! Space is cool, y'know.

LOL, I can't help but laugh at all the sci-fi movies that envisioned giant orbital space stations and bases on mars by 2050 :LOL::LOL:

The way I see it, the only means to speed up space exploration and colonization is by utilizing a cheap and safe mass transportation system. *hint hint* the space elevator

2050? Try 2001!

Or both. Anyway, great news, we've "finally found something more exciting than war" (2001 quote)

Sadly, I think that in reality, the quote should go; "finally found something more exciting than war- War in space!"

You are kidding right, sure we can produce the materials strong enough, but in small quantities and very expensive

Roscosmos

The best name.

:D

Hopefully the Space Wars are just about to begin :D

Where's mexico? I wanna hear about Masa!

It's about time they spilt the beans on area 51 and we build some freaking starships.

2020 is said to be the planned date of NASA to land people on the Mars. 2030 for European Space Agency.

i'm sure ukraine's bottle-rocket programme will come in handy

What the ****?! Fifty years from landing on the moon to populating it? We went from a single sattelite to landing two men on the moon in little more than a decade! We need a kick in the ass!

Sorry, I meant to say Mars.

There are quite a few technologies that we need to develop before we get serious about space settlement.

We can't even construct a succesful biosphere on the earth yet let alone space.

Then there's radiation shielding, transportation times, energy problems and the like.
It's all possible but it's gonna be mighty hard.

Yes, which is why we have to get a move on!

Building it would be enourmously expensive, but it would make lifting things into space so vastly inexpensive that it would pay for itself in a few years.

Im sure I read somewhere (new scientist maybe?) that there is a project that intends to build such a thing in the near future.

I thought NASA refused help from the Russian space agency recently Re: Moon mission 2020?

Also, it's clear that government's believe none-manned space exploration is the most cost-effective. It's not very economic to send breathing, eating, drinking humans out there, currently.

Sending humans into the reaches of space is mainly symbolic (other than settlement outside of this earth that is).
