C/blah blah blah a game. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications.

error title: 16 bit Windows Subsystem

im trying to install a game, and this is what i get, fixz plz

What game is it? If its an older DOS game you might have to use DOS-box or another emulation program to run it.

its not dos, its TA the core continency. worked before on xp, but the reinstall doesnt work. i fixed the error before but forgot how

Maybe the compatibility option will help, right click on the program and click on the compatibility tab.

i know the fix involves the red files and one called VDD

Really simple fix; assuming you're using Windows XP SP2. Basically with the update to SP2, it deletes a file that's required for the compatibility of some older applications and causes this particular subsystem error.

Packard Bell (a major OEM PC retailer in the UK) have a fix for it on their website:

http://support.packardbell.com/uk/mypc/?PibItemNr=6945970000#show

Don't worry if your computer isn't a Packard Bell. All it does is replace the missing file/s removed by Microsoft. The worst that can happen is that it has no effect. Give it a try.

It will still probably use DOS.

Have you tried it? Has it worked?

Hmm I should ask my friend to try this he has problems running old games also.
