Hi, i have win XP pro on a 70 gig partition and nothing on an empty 10 gig. I want to install linux redhat on the 10, but if i install it will it ask me which OS i want to boot to when i turn the pc on? thanks

Yeah, you can choose to instal Grub or Lilo when you're in the installation program. No problems there.

You basically get a nice screen with the options, and you can set it to automatically boot into one of the choices after x amount of seconds. For example, I have XP Pro on my main drive, and Fedora on another hard-drive. When I boot up, GRUB loads and sits there for 10 seconds before loading Windows, unless I press a key.

I have a question...the linux partitioning is confusing the hell out of me. I went into disk druid, and i have the 70 gig which has windows and the 10 gig which is empt. I highlight the 10 gig and it says something about a root not being selected. help plz!...thanks

edit: also, whats with these linux partitions. Do i need to ext3's and a swap with double the amound of ram i have? This is really confusig. Should i just delete the empty NTFS 10 gig and have linux create a new partition with the free space? Thanks

Yes, delete the existing partition and let Linux partition and format. With 768 MB of RAM, I can't imagine you need 1.5 GB of swap space, but that will be fine...
