2 steam accounts 1 game?

Is it possible to create a second steam account to have access to the same game?

The problem here at our house is that there are two of us who want to play the game and when the second person started the game last night they saved over everything I had done- I lost everything!

I don't want to cheat, I just don't want to have to shell out the extra $$. I also don't want to say that they have to wait til I'm done. I liked the original halflife where I didn't have to worry about and was able to move my saved games to another folder when they played- I'm not to sure about doing that now with their anti-piracy software I'm afraid I'll goof something up.

same thing happened to me. I signed on with my brother's name b/c it was his copy. But when I signed on with my name, all the saved games were gone.....This sux.

just keep your save files in seperate locations and put the ones you wanna access in the save locations

and cant you just use the same account on two different comps and keep one game on one and one on the other

Unfortunetly Eskimo it doesn't work that way. Steam alows for validation of one CD Key per account. This means that Half-Life 2 will only be playable on the first account it was registered for.

I am in a similar situtation where my brother and I bought the game together. He installed the game on his account, then I installed it on mine. After about 24 hours, the time it took Steam to validate the CD Key, I got a message saying the the CD Key was already in use even though it was on the same computer. This whole software piracy thing seems a tad bee ridiculous when you can't even install the same on the same computer, but on two separate accounts. All I want is a different SAVES folder and a different config file.

logg onto steam with one pc, once your logged on exit steam, take your internet connection and unplugg it from that pc then start up steam, it wont be able to find an internet connection and will ask you if you want to play in offline mode, hit yes and there you go. The other pc can be logged onto the internet

Im sorry I thought that you had 2 pc's here is a quick and easy fix
go to this folder

C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\_YOURACCOUNTNAME_\half-life 2\hl2

There will be a save folder and a config folder..........Copy both of those and paste them on your desktop somewhere in a folder called "Your name" whatever that may be. Then when you go to play the game erase the save folder and config folder and copy and paster yours in there then when you play the game YOUR configs and YOUR save files will be accessed. Then when your done go back into that folder and copy and paste your save and configs back into your folder. Same thing for your brother when he plays. It should only take a minute at most to do it. Hope that helps. I used to do that with a usb thumb drive for my configs when I would go over to a friends house to play cs and I didn't want to take the time to reset all the configs. Just the same as using a memory card on playstation 2 if you were to go over a friends house. Good luck
