2 sticks or 1?

I am building a computer and was not sure if I should buy 1 stick of a gig of ram or get 2 sticks of 512. Which would run smoother/faster? Is there really a noticeable difference? Thanks for the help guys.

The only difference is the memory timings for the 1GB stick vs 512MB sticks. 512MB sticks go down to CL 2.5 and 2 while 1GB sticks rarely are CL 2.5 (usually 3). That's basicly how fast the memory reacts and it makes a difference.

2 sticks if your board supports dual-channel if not then refer to the post above!
