i wanna buy a new vid card to replace my old geforce 2 since after running css it wasnt running to great. i have 512megs of ram and its a dell 4300. What is a good vid card that i could buy for around the range of 200$??

thanks

Get an MSI 9800 pro from newegg.com for $194. It's the best one you can get, it uses the R360 GPU core so it's really an underclocked 9800xt.

o yeah and also are vid cards easy to set up, like does it have directions and is it noob friendly. if not ill just have someone do it for me

extremely easy... vid cras, pop in the AGP port screw down, plug it all in since Radeon 9800 pro has power connectors o nit then run your machine and use the cd that came along with it and install the catalyst drivers, then go on the net and download the later catalysts and you should be working fully :D

Not really, more of an overclocked 9800 non-pro. Then the XT is an overclocked 9800 pro.

o yeah

whats with all this overclocking shize? is it just like running your video card above its capabilities?

and how would i no if that card could run in my system

There's really two factors concerning whether the 9800 pro will run on your system. First you need an AGP slot, you're all set there. Second, you need a big enough power supply. You need at least a 300 watt power supply. But this is where it gets confusing. See some power supplies like generic ones are really low quality and if you had a low quality cheap 350w power supply it may actually be worse than a good quality 250w psu. You said you have a Dimension 4300, my friend has a 4600 which has a 250w psu but he can run an X800 pro on it. I think you're ok with your psu because the 4300 wasn't Dell's low end computer like the 2350. So you should be fine.

so if i buy it and set it up correctly it'll work fine? :D :D

o yeah could i some how use the geforce 2 and the 9800 pro for like super good performance :smoking: , or would i have to get rid of the geforce 2 to make room for the 9800. and if i had to get rid of the the old card could i sell it somewhere?? and how much do u think i could sell it for??

Get rid of the Geforce 2. And I don't think it'll sell for much.

save your geforce 2 as a backup. In case sumthing ever goes wrong and your not sure what is
