200 year old code cracked.

nice article. and i can't believe it would take that long to figure out but it just goes to show how unique the times were.

The difference between 2007 - 2009 in modern computer years is like 100 years of mathematical computational progress back in the 1700's. So it's like it was cracked 100 years ago.

Perhaps.

Well. The title of the thread grabs your attention. ;D

Wow, that's pretty interesting. Never heard about it though.

I guess Jefferson didn't come up with it all. :P
I would like to make my own secret code language, where you have to do multiple math problems followed by finding codes on relics across the world to get one sentence XD

PS Is everybody switching to simpson avatars?

Meh, they don't even publish the full text anywhere.

I'm imagining a bunch of pacing and code-cracking montages in my head.

'But in Latin, Jehovah starts with an I...'

Code is for suckas!

I just get a couple of Welshmen to do all my communicating for me, that way nobody but them can understand what the hell is being said. Well, that is, except for other Welshmen. But I mean come on, what are the chances of others intercepting!?

Start using capital letters at the beginning of your sentences, you annoying bastard.

Oh wait a second. I just remembered. It wasn't Welshmen... it was Glasgow accent individuals.

Nobody can understand those bastards. That's who I would use.

I would do all my communicating with a bunch of people with a Glaswegian accent.

Anyone else read this as "200 year old smoked crack"

Everybody makes mistakes ZT, don't be a judgemental prick.

You can't always blame a drug user, ZombieTurtle01. Crack addiction is actually a fault of society. The problem is that in society, when you are unable to get the drug of choice, you have to settle for crack, when you really just want opium.

This thread reminds me of the Welsh quartet who appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show in the 1960s. They were singing "Old MacDonald", and when got to the refrain, the just looked at each other with a blank stare on their faces..
