Anyone got this? 3 awesome new maps but the Goliath, woah, I've never seen such a powerful vehicle in a game ever! It's stupid. It regenerates it's armour in less than seconds to 100% again, fires roller mines, shotgun and has 4 machine guns, plus, it heals/repairs/supplies units and vehicles near it AND to top it off, it's a moveable spawn point, YEY, stupid overpowered vehicles FTW.

Hooooly shit I see a nerfing in the future. Or not.

Is this game even worth getting? Along with the booster pack?

So... tell me what it's like to play a game like this. I see FPS elements, but some strategy. So you set your team up ahead of time and then go in? Do you make strategy decisions on the fly? What kinds of strategy decisions do you make as you play the game? How much of the game is in FPS mode?

In Assault Lines, it is all vehicles. Basicly, EA stuck a superweapon in, that destroys everything (Goliath) then though, oh, poo my pants, now we have to give the other team something to balance it out, lets stick in 3 Walkers, that should do it... so you just get vehicle vs vehicles and as soon as the Goliath has destroyed those 3 walkers, it goes and base rapes everyone.

BF2142 is worth getting, the booster pack, is not.

Dude, it's an on-line shooter, the only non-FPS elements are the menus and commander view (each team can have one commander, which has a full view of the whole battlefield from above and can issue orders, drop supplies, artillery etc.).

bah, this boosterpack is by far the best of all boosterpacks.

The goliath is powerful, but its slow as balls. It requires teamwork to use it, and teamwork to blow it up.

To take it out you have to blow up its regen panels that it has on the top, rear, and sides to slow down its ability to self repair and then then hammer it with anti armor attacks. Also, it can only really engage 1 armored threat at a time as the only anti armor weapon it has is the rollermine launcher which has a very slow rof.

Yeah if you are trying to take it on by yourself, or your team is a bunch of newbie rabble, then the goliath will own you. but if you play it smart, and knock out those panels while keeping out of sight, you can take goliaths out easy. In one round my team took out like 4 or 5 goliaths.

And the speeders are freaking awesome. They have good armor for their size, and are overloaded with guns. They essentially behave like tiny ground based attack choppers, except the driver and gunner are very vulnerable. My only gripe with them is that walkers can only really kill them by pure luck due to their armor being resistant to walker autocannons.

The unlocks are pretty hit or miss, though i do love the new infantry radar for support.

The maps are pretty good, the bridge and titan yard maps being the better two. The night map was fairly meh.

"Northern Strike"? What the hell?

The year is 2142. Ice covers the world as inflation and unemployment rise. Against this stark background, the National Coal Board is attempting to nationalise the laser-mining industry. One thing stands in its way: the Miner's Union. As the pits begin to close, t'workers gather from Leeds, from Yorkshire, from Cornwall and from Nottinghamshire, strikes are declared across the nation, and thus begins an epic struggle between the trade unions and the forces of the free market. The winter of discontent has truly begun.

No, what?

Think Day After Tomorrow, but with hover tanks and mech warriors...

I got this, and I love it.

The GOLIITH is a monster....

I was extremely non-impressed with the initial 2142 demo, and I haven't really been back since, making this the first PC BF game I haven't bought. It really just never clicked with me the way the other two games did, and felt more like Battlefield: Vietnam than Battlefield 2.

I'm guessing this expansion probably isn't going to change that impression?

The goliath is easy to kill if you have teamwork. That or using those remote charges and stealth.

one guy can't kill the goliath with a railgun unless the driver is an idiot. There are regen pads on both sides, rear and top so the driver would to turn around in order to expose enough for it to go down. I think the goliath is a nice little mini task that is satisfying to destoy, sometimes it goes down quick other times it will power into the base. The speeder is fun to use too, deadly against infantry. Maps are generally all good although they really set out to restrict vehicle movement in most of them. Some of the unlocks are great, walker driver jump out and throw bait, get in = hard to kill.
