I'm looking for a 22" game-friendly screen.
:farmer: Please share your experience. :rolling:
In particular I got my eye on this new Dell 22".
c ya.

I can't beat the price, decent response time (5ms) I don't know whether 5ms response time is scaled to Grey to Grey or Black to white to black, but I will bet on grey to grey. Either case, I like it, I like it very much, specially the price is very attractive, and its wide-screen damn you. ;)

Good Luck.

the dell is the e line meaning budget line of monitors ..the dell 2007 is much much better ...but it doesnt really matter as all 22" panels are made by the same company: chi mei ..except the new 22" by LG which is a LG/Phillips panel

as to the dell 22" people have complained of uneven colour, noticeable light bleed and less than sharp colours ..I'd say it's on par with the Acer or Benq 22" ..the samsung 226BW is the better of the 22" screens

Bleading...

Thanks for the rep. what does the bleeding mean exactly?

I used to have a 17" and now I have a 22". Now when ever I play cs I get motion sick. :x But I'm getting used to it.

Gaming essentials : keyboard+mouse+plastic bag.

What kind of 22"?
Which games do you play?

all LCDs are backlit meaning there's a light bulb behind the plastic of the screen ...sometimes this light "leaks" through

example:

notice the light "bleeding" from the top and bottom?

22" vs. 22"

What makes the 226BW your better choise?
(Other then 2ms response)

Like some else already mentioned; I get seasick when I play on screens larger than 20", and images play on my mind while trying to sleep...OMG! get it out get out. I love my Syncmaster 206BW...Absolute pure love.

well I would have picked a Gateway FPD2275W if they had any in my area ...it's the only P-MVA 22" panel that I know of ..the rest are TN panels (inferior at color reproduction but better for gaming: less ghosting)

the samsung 226BW has dynamic contrast (good for movies) not as much light bleed/problems with buzzing as the 225bw, HDCP, and DVI ...overall it has better colour reproduction, is sharper and has higher contrast than the delll 22"

Probably right

Ye..you got me thinkin of the 226BW.
It's coming to my neighborhood in few weeks.
Looks like a better bargain then the Dell 22".
although Dell is good lookin :P

Yeah that 22" is sweet, just read the review at NewEgg. http://www.newegg.com/Product/CustratingReview.asp?item=N82E16824001096 Monitor stand is what most people are complaining about, but you can always buy a monitor-arm. Three reasons;
1) You don't want to trip, wobble, throw your Wii control at it, run into your desktop while drunk and abused, tip over a $390.00 Monitor to the ground,
2) You can always have your way with it, when used monitor-arm, like that Fetish Movie I was watching last night...Oh! The humanity!!!!
3) Fikin aimbots always hate em, I once broke a keybaord cuz this guy was cheating. I know something is wrong with me.

Good Luck.

A friend of mine got a 22"(I think it's 22) LG for around 400-500 bucks canadian, and it's pretty nice - 3000:1 contrast and 5ms response time...

why dont you sit farther away from the monitor?

226bw screen modes

What modes/mapping does the 226BW has?
1:1
fill
aspect
etc...?

Because I'm Diabetic and I cant see that far. Besides no matter how far back I sit, 22" is just too much for me to stand, specially fast-pasted graphic.

I dont think any 22" has to 1:1 scale ..perhaps the gateway does

anyways a 20" monitor will always look better than a 22" monitor ..they both have the exact same resolution (1680 x 1050) except a 22" screen is stretched over 22" instead of 20"

So a virtual-world helmet is out of the question? ;)

well I looked at a Dell 20" and the 1680 x 1050 was too small anyway,
like 1280 x 1024 on a 17"
