Not a great PC i know, but i got it for 200 bucks. So im planning on tossing $250 into it to get it as up-to-date as i can.

Any ideas? Be specific please ^ ^.

Why do you have dual processors?

Abyways, i'd say get a good vid card.

dules because i just got this PC for 210 + a crappy lil 13 inch moniter, not a bad deal tho huh?

Put all your money in one good cpu and a decent graphics card. Someone else feel free to provide the exact items he should buy. (Graphics card = more important.)

Get an alienware computer, not sure if u can get them in austalia though :(

It looks like they are good for gaming, maybe you should build a good pc from scratch.

Do NOT buy a computer from the frist place you look.
The Good Guys is a pretty good shop very nice prices.(if u live in australia.
Also if you live in australia check out some of the dell deals in the paper and on their website.
Also maybe you could use the ram you got now in it not sure though.
Hope this has been SOME use.

:flame: Alienware is for rich people with no patience. :flame: I dont want to go blow a grand on a new PC< thats why i got this one for 200 bucks. so anyways, i think this mobo supports up to 1.3 GHZ so ill get 2 of those... any ~250$ graphics cards you could reccomend?

ati 9600 XT goes for aound $160 or so....thats a decent card.
I would reccomend a new mobo and CPU, but you might not be able to afford that....

How much would a Mobo/cpu combo go for? again go with specifics, link me to the hardware if possible ^^. I get like 50 bucks a week workking part time, and i have no bills to pay, so i could save up a lil...

get used parts is what i suggest. for 250 you can get a athlon 2600xp/mobo/ram/ and a video card like a geforce 4(which is overclockable to be fast) or a radeon 9500(pro?). then you may have to factor in a hsf. ;)

As far as I'm concerned you wasted your $200. You would have been better off putting all $450 towards a new PC off the shelf. You won't be able to get as much for the $250 as you need to put into that slow piece of junk.

yea ouch a 13" monitor and a geforce 2? you would have been much better off scaping your own parts together from the beginning. sounds like your case is probably ancient too.

Alienware computers are for people who want to get ripped off. I mean jesus, you pay like $1000 for the case or somthing because you can build your own computer with the same crap in it for WAY cheaper than they sell them.

Anyways back on topic, you should get the Nvidia GeForece 6600gt, its a new card with all them nice features and you could easliy find one online for about $200-250. I bought mine for $240 because I went with the BFG version, but I know other brands like XFX have theirs for about $230.

But then again, that monitor and the rest of the computer don't seem like they'll make the 6600gt feel at home. My recomendation here is to save the money. But if you really want to spend it, then I recomend the 6600gt.
