it is best to have a 500watt and use only 250 watts of it than have a 250 wat and use full 250 watts of it.

It'd probably do just fine but yeah, I'd step up to a 350W just to be safe.

300w is highly recommended, but you can try the 250 if you like, just depends on your system.

250 watts, sounds like it could be a shuttle system, in which case 250 watts is more than enough for those cards. 6800 ultras run on shuttle psus.
If not a shuttle 350watt decent brand is good.

I'd recommend a namebrand PSU with 350-500 watts of power. Search on Newegg.

I'm running a Hercules 9800 flashed to XT on a 200W PSU back at home, it's been almost a year now and I've had no problems whatsoever. It all depends if you have lots of devices in your pc such as multiple HDDs or DVD/CD drives or anything else that takes up juice.

I'm running a 300 W for my 3.0ghz Intel, Radeon 9800 Pro. It runs more then fine.

i found another power supply that fits in my computer, and it is 300 W, so i should be ok if i use that right?

It may be able to run on lower but 300Watt is min for the 9800. The risk would not be worth it. If a PSU goes it is possible to take a few parts of the system with it like the Mainboard, I've seen it happen before.

The 9600 series doesn't use much power though.
