3 Days of trying,, Found a FIX! Game Restarts, reboots.

Problem: Game loads, and my computer restarts automatically.

System: AMD Athalon, 1.33 GB processor, 512 RAM, Windows XP, GEFORCE 128 FX5200.

DO NOT DOWNLOAD latest drivers! I did, and that is why I couldn't play the game.

I installed the older driver, version 61.76 from geforce, and the game works flawlessly now.

Hope this helps someone eliminate the FRUSTRATION I went through!

Final note: WOW,,, what a game!

yes, the 61.76 drivers solved all the problems I was having (reboots, crashes, or having to run the game in directx7 mode).

Game now runs beautifully at 1024x768

and looks fantastic !

Seems to be an issue with the latest Nvidia drivers and older cards, ones that don't support DX9. One time when installing the latest drivers actually makes things worse !!

PS The new drivers (66.xx) also broke Counter-Strike for me.

i tried installing 61.76 and it still freezes my pc when i try to load the game, when my steam account tries to login

:thumbs: musclecar, you're my savior man. I have like the exact same specs as you, even the same video card. The same thing happened to me, only after the G-man was talking for a few secconds at the begining of a new game. And Far Cry and SC: PT also crashed for me as well AFTER I DLed the new drivers. Thanks.
