3 more seasons of LOST

Been mentioned in the Lost thread.

Well at least we know it will end, I'd hate to have this canceled half way through the story, it would kill me :(

I wouldn't mind it getting canceled if it keeps going the same direction Season 3 is....into the ground. But it won't get canceled any time soon.

Hopefully they can return to the glorious days of season 1 and 2.

Huh? Season 3 post-break has been amazing, practically the quality of Season 1. Except for the Thalaind episode.

QFT. That Tattoo episode was probably the worst LOST EP ever, but the rest of the season has been pressing all the right buttons in terms of storyline and delivery. The Brig was quality.

They've all been pretty sub par, but the Tatoo ep was far from the worst this season, what about Expose...or "Tricia Tanaka Is Dead", both pretty useless imo. The only good ones so far this season have been "Further Instructions" and One of US IMO

I know not of what you speak - I've downloaded the first 2 seasons and am halfway thru season 2 and loving it

Yea the first two are great, up there with the best television has ever had to offer imo.

So basically they're dragging it on for 3 seasons intead of finishing it with 2.

It would've been 48 episodes either way, but they're trying to stretch that over 3 years.

Lamers.

Season 1 was great - the hatch!!1111111111 what what what??!11111

Season 2 was good too - the button!!111 press teh buttonz!111!!

Season 3 has no focus.

I think it's a pretty good compromise, remember ABC has the power to say **** you and continue it indefinitely. But if it is 48 episode either way, youd like they would want to end it quicker just in case the show viewer ship starts to slip or something.

Either way i bet well see a spin off

LOST: Rousseau's story

They can milk that for 16 years lol.

Well the writers were looking for 2 seasons, while ABC were looking for 4 so 3 is the compromise. That the writers have broken them down to 16 episodes each is beneficial in terms of improving the production. Lost has always been plagued with tight scheduling to write, film and edit the episodes which has resulted in errors and gaffs upon occasion. More time to put the episodes together in can only be good for the show. Really quality Shows like Deadwood, the Soprano's or The Wire generally have much shorter seasons.

No focus? The entire season has revolved around and gradually revealed more about the Others with every episode.

Yes, but there's no end goal in sight. In "24" the first episode sets the course for the next 23 episodes. In Lost it's like there's a new thing every episode, and they end up just leaving them all unresolved. The black smoke thinger etc, was there any point in that appearing in the earlier episodes?

You might as well skip the next two seasons then, because the secret behind smoky isn't going to be revealed until the last season apparently.

Glad it wont be revealed until last season either. Keeps me watching and keeps me guessing as to what it might actually be!

I'm loving season 3 so far, been great mostly, and its just getting better as we're reaching the end of season 3 :)

It's great to hear that there's a target date to wrap it all up. This means the producers can continue to pace themselves without having to give us too much filler or cram too many answers together. The series will be better for it.

This entire season has been about the Others, and that's most likely how it's going to end. The recent episodes have been setting up for a season finale that's going to be a war.

This season has given us more answers than the last two combined and the recent string of episodes is the best streak of quality since the show started.

Jesus.

Imagine the BOX SET. It's already, what, like 30 ****ing discs or something?

I lost (lol) interest in this show about half-way into season 2, heard it got better and thought I'd give it another look on DVD later on. But 6 seasons? **** that.

What happened to keeping mini-series mini ffs?

This is good news for Lost. It's nice to know ABC isn't going to screw around with the creative process unlike some other networks.

What happened to keeping mini-series mini ffs?

That would be a better complaint if it was a miniseries and not a seasonal TV show. The fact that they're planning to end it at all is pretty weird.

Who ever said Lost was mini-series?

Yes, 2 seasons with 24 episodes each would've been better than 3 with 16, but it's still great that the writers have an end to go by.

I don't understand how you can hate season three. Every episode, except for the tattoo one has been either great, amazing or suberb.

For me, the seasons rate like this:
Season 1: 10/10
Season 2: 7/10
Season 3: 9/10

The series was planned with a beginning, middle and end. Setting an endpoint for the show allows the creators to finish the way they want - ie the network could have forced them to make more seasons or fire them and hire new guys. It probably is strange, especially since most series are cancelled without a proper ending, that Lost has a predefined endpoint - but could you do a show like Lost any other way?

That pretty much sums up my feelings too.

Im suprised that every is so down on the second season, its my fav of the three.

Season 2: 7/10
Season 3: 9/10

Pretty much agreed. And I just know Season 3 is going to end with a bang.

Only two more eps left( counting the two hour finale).

How can you not love season 3? For me it was a return to what was so great about season 1. Season 2 was just about the button all the time.

How much can they stretch out the one storyline?

Season 1: 10/10
Season 2: 7/10
Season 3: 10/10

Season 3, post break, has been on par if not better than Season 1. Season 2 was such a boring season...sure, there were cool bits here and there, mainly the beginning/end, but other than that it was drab. 3 is just awesome. Except Thailand episode.

LOST is great, but it is flawed as well. The biggest mistake that the shows producers made was to try and promote everyone initially involved as lead roles, rather than having 3-7 principals with a larger supporting cast to whom you can add/subtract characters to with relative ease (BSG/Heroes being prime examples of this tried and tested method). Pretty much the only people who talked on the Island during the first season were the main cast and guest roles, which made it increasingly difficult to then introduce any secondary characters without offending the masses.

Hmm... my bad, sure I saw it introduced as a "new mini-series" over here. But then we do suck at the TV.

Maybe I'll have to go back and check out the first 3 seasons in the gap between 3 and 4, I'm getting a little nostalgic about the episodes I did see from 1 (and less so 2).

My favourite that I saw was the Sawyer episode from season 1. That was frekin epic.

Well, it's a mini series compared to law and order.

Any idea when season 4 actually starts? Wanna know how long we might have to wait :P
