this cooler is a beast (based off the vga silencer from artic cooling)
looks like 3-or-2 slots to me. supposedly quieter than the stock heatsink but 11C cooler than it :D

its huge but if they make it for the x800xt ill be getting it. :afro:

does the image code even work? :x

What in the HELL is that about? :D
That has to sound like a damned wind tunnel.

Keep in mind thats the HIS version, and other manufactures might make the design diffrent.

:dozey: A bit overdoing it? But I guess 11 C cooler, that's pretty damn good... doesn't interest me, it's obviously aimed at the more stupid people and overclockers.

HIS is the name of the 3rd party card maker for ati cards. thats the final design its already out in asia

:hmph: Don't get mad at me that you happened to like the card. I'm not calling you stupid unless you think that the 11 C cooler is worth the 3 slots taken up when the regular one slot is most likely good enough, but if you're going to overclock that is a different story. So YOU stfu, god damn Noob.

This is over the top unless you have really poor Case cooling.
I also think it's aimed at those types of people...lol
It all starts with good cool airflow aimed right at the PCI/AGP slots from the front fans. ;)

Looks like a good dust blower, for all the dust thats probaly gathered up on my stuff.. (only have 1 fan lol)

yeah but if you got that think of all the money youd save on air conditioning during the summer

asus is my bitch =D

how loud do you think that fan is? i have a p4 1.6 stock fan with a stupid power suply i dotn know how many watts. but from one or the other, there is this loud HZZZZZ sound. i cant figurie out if its from the psu fan or the hsf. either way, its ****ing loud, i can clearly hear it.

i hate loud systems. have oyu guys heard about that fanless power supply 450 watts i think. i wonder how hot that gets.

Actually...it would cost more if anything.
The heatsink would conduct more heat away from the card and into the air which would then pass by your air conditioning sensor and would turn it on more often. ;)
Obviously it is a non-factor for air conditioning and isn't going to cost you any different either way but just thought I'd point that out. You were just thinking backwards is all.

blaaahhhhhh. too bad i dont have an air conditioning sensor other than my nipples.

well just to let you guys know. im a overclocker, and not a 'stupid person' who gets it just cause of the 11C cooler.

but for somebody who wants to get it and they dont overclock. sapphire has a card with the similar design but its 2 slots. and this card is definately quieter than the stock fan, and cooler. its also lowers your case temps down a small amount. (so ive heard from the vga silencer version1). i have more than enough room for a 2 or 3 slot cooler so ill be happy getting this as long as the price isnt too high.

When will they learn? We want 5 slot fans! 5 Slots!!111 ;)

Anyway, I honestly don't see the point of this, it's stupidly large, what's wrong with a few well angled front fans? :E

Oh well, when BTX comes out, we'll have lots of new, different fun (!) cooling solutions (hopefully quiet ones) to play with..

I'll probably be buying the X880 XT once ive got a 64-bit system built with a PCI-X slot, few months maybe... when HL2 actually gets here - definately want a cooling system like that on the card though!

It looks noisy but it isnt, the bigger the fan the slower it has to spin, so it's true that it will be quieter than the stock cooler - looks nice and beefy too! :D Only problem with that is that it will be resting all of its weight on the AGP / PCI-X port, which is definately not a good thing, sooner or later these cards will need extra brackets to bolt them onto the motherboard :(

Isn't the third slot the one that no ATX boards actually use but ATX cases still have?

Looking at that card, I can see why they can say it's quiet, and also why people think it won't be. The surface area (metal that dissapates heat) of the heatsink is very large, due to the sheer size of the heatsink. With so much surface area, a lot of airflow is not needed to move it away. So they use a large, slow rotating fan to cool it. Makes perfect sense to me, considering that my Radeon 9800 looks like this

Do you use those slots?
