Watching this right now. Post your opinions!

For now, for me, i'm up to the part where they took the guy to his first gay bar. Let me just say, that gay bar, if it represents your average gay bar hangout for homosexuals, just paints a picture that homosexuality is mainly about raunchy sex.

I know thats not what it is all about... i'm just surprised how much more sex oriented gay bars are than straight bars. I mean... that guy decked out in leather, with his schlong hanging out just barely covered? Geez.

Yeah I'm watching it too. Interesting stuff though I'll agree with you on the gay bar thing.

What is next weeks topic I missed the commercial ;/

gay bars are like that

you know that episode of insominac where they go to Ny, and go into the fetish club and theres a chick i with needles in her arm? i live 2 blocks away. and that gay bar where they guys were getting pierced? yeah, been there too (friends thought it would be funny). now, a gay resturant(sp) is lucky chengs, where guys in drag hit on you no matter what.

Is that really the image gay people want? That homosexuality is simply for the raunchy sex?

Surely thats teh way some people view sex in a heterosexual sense, but I hardly think thats the image heterosexuality has.

Do your worst - I've no problem with the gay man. Makes for very good low-brow television though, and I'd be lying if I said I never pushed a homophobe's buttons before.

I know gay people who wouldn't go within 100 feet of a gay bar. It's a subculture, and the one that projects its image as "the gay community" (which is dumb to even say there essentially is one, at least the people I know would rather be associated with their HOME community, than some ambiguous world over "gay community") Don't think of gay bars as 'bars.' They HAVE a bar, but that's not what it's about. The gay people I know would just go to a regular bar if they wanted to go to a bar.

I still wanna watch the show though because the results will probably be funny.

Well, what are a lot of heterosexual clubs about? Getting laid. Its really not very different. I think they chose to show that because it provides for interesting TV, not because its something that all gay guys go to.

A lot of those kinds of shows just suck anyways. I wouldn't spend my time on this one either.

Well... you don't hear too much about homosexual things except gay bars. Regular bars... aren't really the central point of reference for heterosexual people, and so it does less to paint a bad picture.

Me... I get into relationships for the love and companionship, not just the sex.

EDIT: With clubs... I view them as clubs. Gender Neutral. With gay bars, I view them as well... gay bars, places gay people go. The name in of itself titles it and leads people to believe its something plenty of gay people do, even if they do not. All i'm saying is, it doesn't do much to discredit the belief that these bars spread, that being homosexual is only about sex.

I of course, do not believe that.

next week is two people from the city go to someplace with no toilets electricity, telephones, etc etc.

i actually really like this show, and the debates are usually thought provoking, such as the interesting reversal of what if the bible said you can only be gay, could you ever not be. just good television compared to everything else thats on.

I concur,
Relationships are not just about raunchy sex that kind of thing disturbs the heck out of me and most other people I would guess. There are more important things than one "enjoying" themselves.
