360 controller on windows

Is there a way to get the left and right trigger buttons (L2 and R2) to work just as buttons and not as another axis of the right analog stick, which it seems to do now? I want to play Psychonauts properly damn it. I'm using Vista.

The sticks and the other buttons work fine, but it just picks up the triggers as an analog input as opposed to just a button. If it can't be sorted it looks like I'm using the select and start buttons in game D:

I tried using a 360 controller for the first time here about a week ago to play the game Devil May Cry 4, since so many games had "support" for it. Showed it was installed, but the damn thing never worked. So I used my Nyko AirFlo EX instead, which worked perfect.
