I noticed all the xbox guys here in general games chat, I wanted to make sure those that would care were aware that the wired 360 control is compatible with your PC right out of the box. I didn't have a clue.

I was just saying to my brother today that I need a controller for my PC and remembered hearing that they were releasing a 360 control for PC. I thought it would use a special xbox360 specific connector but no. :D

Thanks to Last One In reminding me i looked it up

Will it work with your PC? YES! SWEET I need a controller for my PC. driving a car with a keyboard is ... hardly possible

This X360 controller will ship with a driver that makes it function with Windows XP based PCs. When the Xbox 360 eventually ships on November 22 you'll be able to use this controller with the console as well. In addition, the controller that ships with the X360 console will be compatible with Windows XP-based PCs.

[Let it be noted that the press release only specified this PC and X360 compatibility would work for the wired versionsof the X360 controller, not the wireless. Then again, unless you have a 30 inch computer monitor, you'll probably be staying within 9 feet of your PC anyway, so the wired aspect of the controller shouldn't be much of an issue. The controller will be able to plug into your X360 and PC effortlessly with its USB attachment. Once you eventually get a hold of your Xbox 360 you'll be able to plug the controller that comes with it into your PC and play relatively quickly by using the drivers available for download from Microsoft's website.

Its true--we've known this for a while now.

That said, I think it could be terrific having a controller that will do both, should I end up with a 360 somewhere down the line. I have been wanting a good gamepad for the PC for a while and never got around to getting one for whatever reason. This might be my choice if it comes down a tad in price. It would be nice to have a gamepad for all the arcade-ish games that I play on the PC, but that's about it. Keyboard and mouse for everything else  .

Hopefully it'll become the standard pad for pc gaming, something that has been lacking for many years. It might even mean we get a few more genres appearing on the pc - which would be very welcome.

I'm glad to know this - I can finally play Street Fighter against console players and not have them complain about not being fluent with keyboards.

If there was a way to use a Mouse/Keyboard with 360, I would be excited, but since thumbpads are numb and unprecise (inprecise?) I am unhappy. :flame:
