3D landscape around my map

do you know how to make the 3d landscape surrounding a map. ( like you see in de_dust and other valve made maps ). I would know how to make mountains but i dont know the enitiy name that projects them all around the level, and i dont know what kind of properties it needs. If you dont know what im talking about... when youre playing CS and youre flying around in free-look mode, you see this little model of mountains, those are actually the big mountains surrounding the map...
